Hi Planeters!
This is an unpleasant situation, but it seems that my figure was stolen during one of the european model competition.
Looked so:

If any of you see it somewhere, please let me know.
And you can shoot in its 'new owner' without any questions..

well
even if you did not win an prize.the person which pinched it had taste.so one could see this as award.
sems that the award or display tables where not guarded to securly.but its surely difficult to overlook long rows wich show hundrets of miniatures in all sizes and displaylevels.and to enable the crowd to see them you must let them come by with an distance of an arm....so ideal for the grabbers.
fazit watch at show spectators which havevery long arms.
well maybe bought it without knowing that its stolen.so it might be drastic to make an hole in it.and if maybe not over the waist level.

I've often thought how easy it would be for someone s**tbag to have figures away from the comp room. I won't add insult to injury, and say it's a nice piece.
Good luck with your quest,
Carl.

Thank you for support.
I do not suppose that the figure came back to me. It is really possible that it was stolen just nastily, and it is in a dust-bin now..
But if not, its 'new owner' will have to hide it.. as if it were Gioconda:> Since it is a unique figure (because I sculpted it and there are no copies of it), its public presentation shall indicate the thief, or receiver of stolen goods

Sorry for your loss, Kamil!

I hope the perpetrator will get what he deserves.

This also bring a new aspect. Shows have alway been small and close due to the nature of this hobby. Very much of the procedures are relying on the moral of the participants. As things like this starts to happen more often perhaps its time to take measurements such as reciepts when entering figures to a show and that we all keep an eye open for what is takin place?

Cheers

In my opinion model shows have not to be open and dedicated to the modelers only. but in that case it is necessary to ensure good protection of the exposition.
As far as I know, that show when my fgure 'disapeared' have excellent protection, there are lot of 'guards' that watching the tables with models. It looks like my fogure was stolen by really hardcore vermin.

Sorry to hear about that Kamil. Let's hope that the pondlife who stole your work gets some 'bad karma' come their way soon.

Like Carl, I too have often thought how easy it would be to steal a figure from one of he comp tables. I wasn't at Euromil last year, but a friend who was told me that a figure went "missing" from (I think) the Pegaso stand, and that there was an announcement put out that it had been "lost" - so if someone "found" it would they please kindly return it? (The underlying message of course being "bring it back and we'll forget it ever happened").

I don't know what the outcome of that was.

I've also heard said that there's a growing phenomenon of figures actually being stolen "to order" from shows by professional thieves working for private collectors who might fancy having, say, a Cartacci or a Ruina original in their cabinet.

To what extent this is true I don't know, but I can well believe it given the breathtaking talent of the top painters in the hobby.

Sadly this isn't unique to figures. I've seen it happen in model shows as well. The nature of the exhibit room and the show makes to too easy for this to happen and when any type of security is attempted its usually shot down by impatient attendees and staff. It just proves to be impratical. I fear its an "occupational hazard" and one we'll have to live with if we want shows. Fortunately it is a rare though no comfort to you Kamil. I hope you get it back. I will say the thief had good taste. Curse the thief that he may know no satisfaction or pride in his life. That he may never be able to have a stable grip in the hand that committed the deed and that he have no security for his own possessions.
