I am looking to purchase a figure done by Poste Militaire of Davy Crockett. I believe it was an 80mm kit cast in metal and sculpted by Keith Durham for Poste Militaire. I would very much like to get one as I have been reading about one of my favorite historical events and have the bug to do an Alamo figure.

If you can recommend a source for one or have one for sale, please drop me a line. I would greatly appreciate it.

I can't help you on this figure But Andrea do a 54mm Davey Crockett and Elvego Dragoon did one of Davey Crockett at the Alamo in 54mm ,not sure if this is still available .
I also love this historicol event , I'm in the process of converting some old airfix figures into Mexican Lancers
All the best with your search

There was a 120mm resin Davy Crockett(with John Waynes' face) produced by Mike French Models(Tiny Troopers). This is the best from my own opinion. I Painted one but gave to my father so cannot post a picture now.

Cheers,
Kwen.

Hi Terry,

It was a sculpt by Keith Durham, but wasn't released by Poste Militaire - this was a solo venture by Keith Durham, can't recall exactly what the brand name was, something like "Soldiers of Fortune" (?)... (not sure about the exact name)

It was a figure that depicted Crockett as he may have really appeared at the Alamo - nothing to do with the old Disney (I think it was Disney ?) tv adventure series of the '50ies about "the king of the wild frontier" (my father says he watched that series as a young boy on Belgian television :) )

Well I wish you good luck, you're searching for something very rare ... keeping my fingers croosed for you,

cheers

Johan

RE: Davy Crockett Figure

Kwen...I am aware of the Mike French figures from the Alamo movie. I never purchased any of them. Have watched the movie a number of times, but just never was that taken with the characters as they were a bit too Hollywood for my taste, but I did paint a couple of Mike French's kits and thought he did nice work. Big John Wayne fan though, but prefer the more recent Alamo movie with Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton, and Jason Patrick as I thought it was closer to character. Thornton was awesome as Davy Crockett and Jason Patrick played a great Bowie!

Chippy...Thanks for the tip on the Andrea and El Vego 54mm kits of Crockett. I was aware of them, but may have to go that route if my source for the large scale one does not pan out. Apprecite your tip!

Johan...Thanks for sharing the correct name of the figure company that produced The Crockett figure. For some reason, I had it in my mind that it was Poste Militaire. Appreciate you correcting me. Got my wires crossed...But appreciate your tip nevertheless.

The skinny guy?

Hi Terry,
Just my personnal opinions, don't think the Mike Frenchs' David a little bit "HollyWood" style except the face of Duke. You can change its' face or convert it to a skinny guy like Billy if you think it more persuasive.:p
Cheers,
Kwen.
