Started work on these two very nice, to me, busts very generously gifted by Peter Day to whom I am very grateful.

They needed a bit of work and some would have gone further than I have. The deaths head on the Hussar Shako wasn’t well formed, the brow was sunken so I re worked it with magi sculpt as well as a few other bits and bobs.

They were then primed in black with a second white primer from above.

A bit of reference is about

The dress of Louise is described as creamy yellow but is not that yellow in the painting, also the headdress is different on the figure. I chose to go with a more yellow dress for the time being as I quite like it against the blue cloak. Victoria is just black and silver so no problems there.

A start has been made and this is where I am at the moment

Still a long way to go but happy so far.

Since I have Viktoria Luise on order, I will be following your progress. I agree with you regarding the totenkopf, hopefully my limited sculpting abilities will be up to the task.

Thankfully it is quite an easy fix. You will need to check the ears too for pin holes but again, easy to sort out. Look forward to seeing how you get on with yours(y)

Hi Graham

Not one but 2 busts , very nice for Peter to offer these to you

Good clean base coating on both and info on the castings

Happy benchtime

Nice work Graham. I like the quote reference Queens and Barbarians. Where's Boudicca fit in I wonder? I think there's a bust of her out there that makes her look very glam - artistic licence of course.

Looking forward to Victoria(y)

Lol, thanks Phil. Boudicca was a queen and a barbarian with lippy rather than a five o’clock shadow.......... Oddly, I have been looking for a Boudicca bust :D
