Hi guys, thanks to everyone who has given me encouragement to tackle this large figure.

The past two nights have been spent grinding and scraping resin to smooth the surface, remove small casting plugs, correct some imperfections and sharpen some of the undercuts.

I've now fitted the right arm and pinned it to the torso for extra strength.

The head has been primed and is now ready for painting.

The left arm which is covered by the pelise will be primed, painted and then fitted as it would be too difficult to paint if fitted to the figure first.

I'm also researching the uniform, which is one of my favourite aspects of Figure modelling.

I've started on the head. It's just a basic acrylic paint job at this stage. Basic highlights and shading done and eyes blocked out. Next step is to add some detail to the skin through stippling and oil washes.

If anyone has any references to Douglas' physical appearance ( eye colour, complexion, hair colour) I'd be most grateful. Douglas was in his mid 40's when the photo was taken of him that inspired this sculpt, so I want to capture those details in his face before I move on.

Lovely work so far Tony.

I pulled this painting off the net.

Once I enlarged it, I was able to take a colour sample from the iris area.
It came out as R57 G32 B27.
Feeding those levels back to obtain an actual colour gave me this:-

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Andrew
