Sculpted by Kevin Farrar

I recently recieved several kits from Minuteman Models and decided to review the Custer bust first. Sculpted by Kevin Farrar, this 1/10th scale resin bust depicts Lt Col George Armstrong Custer in 1876.

Arriving in sturdy white cardboard boxes the smaller parts were sealed inside a small zip-lok bag to insure against loss during shipping.

Above is the separate cast helmet that fits snugly on top of the head. A mold block needs to be removed on the back of the helmet.

Above are several photos of the helmet dry-fitted to the head.

Above you see the shoulder epelautes from the front and the back. Note that the "7" is different on each one.

Above is the resin support plinth with the male nob on top that is supposed to fit up into the bust from underneath. This one did not fit as the hole was not deep enough and was blocked by mold residue.

A full page color guide comes with the kit.

Conclusion:
A very good likeness of Custer with the helmet fitting well onto the head. I would like to see some packing chips inside the box for shipping purposes as the parts will move about inside the box during shipping. Recommended for those historical Custer collectors.

Guy,
Thanks for the review , good to see how you approached these models , one thing though the sculptor's name is KEN FARRAR and not Kevin as on the box (I also had this on my review sample of the night witch) . I spoke to miniuteman models who are aware of this error hopefully it will be changed .

Custer

Hi Guys ,
Speaking to Ken Farrar at Figureworld (FW) I believe that he has redone this so Custer is bareheaded with the helmet by his side ...haven't seen any pictures yet but from my memory the reworked bust was at FW .

Kev, it was a simple conversion I did, just by adding hair to the top of his scalp and placeing the helmet to his side, gave it a different look.
Cheers Ken

Ken ,
It is a nice conversion but I still feel he needs the arm or at least the hand so it looks like the helmet is not floating , like the way you have done the hair , I prefer it bareheaded as well .

Go on ...you know you want to !!!!
