Thanks Kev you are the MAN I thought if anyone knew it would be you.You know how it is I could have left them off like Young did or painted any medal but it would have bugged me for the rest of my life every time I looked at it.It looks in the jeep picture as if he has three but it,s hard to tell so untill I know better I,ll go with the two
Cheers
George

George

Hi George ,

Stirling .....at least no medals but a nice bit of colour on the cap badge ...

What was the matter with the first versions?

Do share all WIP's

Nap

Hi Kev,
The first one was done for a friend in the British Legion who served in the SAS and now one of his mates wants one too so I will have to paint another one for me to comlpete the set
George

Very impressive. I thought the DCM was a level 2 award, and should therefore preceed a MC, a level 3 award?

Mike

Different type of award Mike, DCM is for distinguished conduct, this was awarded while he was an NCO and the MC is for valour, the cross for an officer, which he was at the time., but MM would have been awarded if he was still not commissioned, next one up to it is the VC, Victoria Cross.

Geoff

I've just reread your post Mike, and yes you are correct, sorry for the error, he does not seem to have the MC on that ribbon bar as the darker DCM is certainly first, then a dark light dark ribbon which probably is the GSM, General Service Medal, whose colours are purple green purple. The MC ribbon not on bar or not awarded in the individual pic but is in the group pic.
