Hi, I've finished my buste from Young. A lovely piece to work on.

First time I have used oils for the face and his blue jacked. All the other things still done with acrylics.
I just wanted to use oils for the experience.

Nice work Rob! (y) If I could I'd like to mention that a coat of dullcoat may help with the jackets cloth sheen. It should also dull down a bit in time anyway.
One trick us oil guys use is to first leech out the linsead oil from your paint by letting it soak on cardboard for a while before applying it. You will see the oil soak into the cardboard leaving the paint a duller colour.
Another is to use a drying box to dull down the paint after applying it to the figure. Check out the posts regarding this as this is a very common problem with oils.
Hopefully others will chime in with more detail etc on what I've mentioned above.

Other than that again nice work!!

I think that is the best rendition of Russell Crows face that I have seen of this kit, beautifully done. As others have said, tone down the gloss on the coat and you have a winner.

Hi Rob
All the above suggestions are good,

You could also try putting on less paint that will really help to reduce the sheen,
and be particular with what colors of blue you use, I try to stay away from things like
Prussian blue and ultramarine which when highlighted with white can look a bit milky.

Still a nice effort for first time with oils, hope you preserver with them they take time to get right. (y)

Hello to you all.
Thanks for your remarks and feedback. I'll try to correct the jacket. Although the gloss has some extra because of the picture. But yes still to shiny.

Great piece of work Rob!
As mentioned before the coat shines a bit too much but probably this can be fixed.

Groeten,
Marcel.
