Details of the release

Title: Major Anders Lassen

Reference: RPM-B- 13 -0001 (Wall of Heroes series)

Sc ale: 1/9th

No of Parts: 9

Material: Gray Resin

Sculpting :Latest 3D methods

Box Art: Computer painted

In my opinion RP have made a very big impact on the modelling market ,using the latest computer methods they have learnt and got better with every release , the keyword for Hugo the owner being "LISTEN" , and he does as we have seen with his posts on WIP's here on PF .

For RP its all about giving the customer the very best , both in subject and in quality , textures are so important and getting the details right likewise.

There is in addition to the bust a 75mm and 1/35th scale figures ( I will look at these in a separate review).

Presentation is good , as before a strong box with a computer painted version of the model on the top , parts being in clear bags surrounded by those air bags which make a really satisfying "pop" when burst!!!.
RP Lassen 001.jpg
We have a insert with a history of the subject and its worth noting in particular that a donation of 5% of the purchase price goes to the Portuguese Military Museum -Largo Museu da Artilharia........ wonderful gesture.

RP Lassen 002.jpgRP Lassen 003.jpg

Parts included are the main torso , arms (x2) , head , machine gun, commando knife, binos, weapon straps ( in 2 pieces . The head has that very often seen cigarette in the mouth but me having "bananna" fingers knocked it off before pictures were taken !!!!...my apologies to RP .

Prep

Torso ..Casting plug to remove from underneath , small amount of flashing from both pouches on belt , I will slightly sand down the hanging belt when I get it on the bench
Arms...Tiny plugs on under edges and small plug from the compass in hand
Head...Small casting plug from rear of neck
Machine Gun...Remove all flashing and formers
Binos...Flashing and tiny plugs to take off
Knife...Small excess resin from lower edge
Straps...Small excee on ends
RP Lassen 006.jpg
You will need to fit the arms , the head and the straps to the machine gun , also the binos and knife to the torso.

Looking at the Torso first , this has been sculpted with amazing textures , , running my finger over its clearly felt , the battle dress is worn open and certainly as Lassen is seen ...never being one for regulations , underneath we have the shirt , both this and the jacket are full of nicely worked folds , well positioned in keeping with the character of Lassen.

Hanging at his neck there are his dog tags ....nice to see these showing

We have the belt at the lower edge , good buckle details .with the small compass or pistol ammunition pouch on the right with machine gun pouches ( 5 in 1) on the left , good shape , tucked behind the smaller one we have the pistol , the sit of the uniform being natural , at the rear we have the same but for the commando knife

On his epaulettes we see the rank badge of a major .RP Lassen 015.jpg

On his breast we have the famous SAS wings RP Lassen 014.jpg

Now to the remaining parts

The Arms , again we see the excellent textures , the right hand clenched ready to hold the weapon strap RP Lassen 025.jpg RP Lassen 024.jpg
the left holding a compass
RP Lassen 022.jpgRP Lassen 021.jpg
RP Lassen 023.jpg
...that's right I said a compass a triumph of sculpting and casting ., fit of both arms are very secure and safe using the same method as in previous busts , well engineered cut outs and plugs.

The Head This was so important to get right ..and its easily to see it is Lassen , really good features . that often seen cigarette in his mouth ( I broke mine!!!) , incredibly we also have texture on the beret .and of course the winged dagger of the SAS on a cloth backing ( I am looking forward to painting this and the beret colour. Fit into the torso is again secure.

RP Lassen 020.jpgRP Lassen 019.jpgRP Lassen 018.jpgRP Lassen 016.jpg RP Lassen 017.jpg

The Weapon . this is a great bit of work , very accurate , all the working parts are thereRP Lassen 027.jpg , I will drill out the muzzle when I do mine, fitting the strap is going to be no problem , the wooden parts have a nice surface texture, its good to see a different weapon being shown .
RP Lassen 026.jpg

Straps ...easy to fit and with accurate buckle details , if you choose to replace these again easy to do so .

Binos and Knife ...again well sculpted ( these are the same as in Lord Lovat previously released) , the knife has a good shape and detail on the handleRP Lassen 028.jpg

Final Thoughts

In a couple of words ...a cracking release , full of details , great textures all over , very good casting ( YS Casting) and a fine tribute to a brave member of the Special Forces .

This will make a really nice companion piece alongside Lord Lovat.

Congratulations to RP on all the work and listening they do as a company .
Highly recommended
