Finally finished this bust today. As you may have seen from my previous posts this one was a challenge, I think the slightly larger scale made it a little trickier for me as every little mistake seemed very noticable. Anyway he is ready for the shelf. (just noticed a little bit of work needs to be done where the neck meets the collar) In the first photo I tried to recreate the photo that gave me the inspiriation just to see how it would look. The other photos are a bit closer up and under some different lighting, I'm still using the mobile phone to take all my photos and its not great with such small objects. Hope you like it and thanks for looking.

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

You'll definitely learn a lot from painting this bust and its clear that you've already improved. Large scale figures and busts are particularly challenging because there is no way to hide your mistakes. Smaller scale figures are sometimes a bit more forgiving in that respect. Kudos to you for tackling such a challenging bust and for such a good result.

More practice will see further improvement mate. Perhaps next time you could increase the contrast between your highlights and shadows to enhance the 3D effect.

Good results Andrew,

larger scales need more attention, you have done yourself a good job!

(better then my first effort)

to echo the others, your next figures, I think you'll have the confidence to experiment a bit more with shadows and highlights, and maybe even some 5'o'clock shadow......although for a red head....?

Good to see you taking the time to get things right!

Cheers

thanks guys, I actually gave it a dust with the pastels to tone down the shadows and highlights, i'll take it off and post another pic see if you think it's any better without it.
