Gary, we in CA just got over 18+ straight day of triple digit heat and yes, the heat is a buzz kill when it comes to painting (or pretty much anything else)

Hi Gary,

Yeah, I feel also that there is less posts of progress or finished work here.

The heat is not innocent :)
I'm musician, and right now I'm in concerts every nights. From June to end of September, I'm on tour......
Leaves me nearly no time for my paint hobby.
I try to paint at least one or two hours at home after concerts. Usually between 3 and 5 AM !!!!! It's less hot than in day time....

That's what air conditioning is for (or basements).

I don't think we made it to triple digits. It was worse yesterday because of the humidity (!) and lack of a breeze. Today wasn't so bad; it was hotter, but there was a lovely breeze now and again. Since I work outside that little bit made all the difference.

Angaliel, you're a brave soul!

Does it take longer for oils to dry when it's hot and humid? It seems like acrylics take a bit longer.

Wendy,

no more hot is and more quickly oils dry :)

Please AIR CONDITIONING does not help to lower the planet heat. In fact it's accelerating the unstoppable planet illness....................

The heat in Philly is unbearable, we hit 100 degrees three days in a row with no relief in sight.

I don't know about you guys, but in this weather I spend less time painting and more time cooling off in the pool. ;)

Cheers
Roc. :)

Here in Oklahoma we are in our 15th day of +100 degree heat. Even with central air I am not painting as much.

You should all come down here. You will then know what heat is

At 5pm here in Oklahoma the temp is 121 degrees = 49 degrees celcius. The photo was taken right outside my den / studio. Like I said before.....thank god for central air conditioning.

I'll trade you guys my winters for your summers!! -50 degrees, I would rather sweat than freeze, but thats my personal preference. We have had a very mild summer compared to last year. But it still never gets as bad as everyone seems to be getting. Average is about 85.

I could paint with the heat, but losing power really put the kibosh on painting.

Oh, and the humidity is 91% here...but much cooler now. :)

Wendy

Ok,
I don't want to say its hot down here in Texas, but...

I stepped out to go to work this morning and saw a tree whistling for a dog!!!

 we have air-con; its called England!
you know the saying about 'mad dogs and the English!'
when the heat hits, we use it to harden our sculpts cos it keeps the utility bills down!!
i did live in South Africa as a kid and remember how hot it got there; cuold not cope with the temps some of you endure daily. but we did have a pool.

HHHMMMM! pOOOOLLL!!
luckily its been sunny but not too hot so have been sat in my armchair in the conservatory working on some bits and bobs.

regards to all== timo
