Marcello Grimaldi one of our Planet figure researcher and expert in the Napoleonic era, will be posting a series of drawings along with some of his paintings.
He has generously volunteered of his time to members who need help with information on regarding that era.

Marcello, I along with the rest of the membership, would like to thank you for your contribution to the Planet, you are a fountain of information.

Ti ho mandato Una e-mail, ma e' tornata indietro, non l'hai ricevuto.
Io penso Che il miglior posto per mettere i tuoi disegni e le tue pitture sarebbe il Painting Forum.

Cheers

Thank you Marcello. Although I haven't painted a napoleonic figure in a long time I enjoy reading your posts ref. this era.
You're enthusiasm and knowledge are a definate asset to our online community.
Thank you,
Roger

Hi to all,
Thanks Roc for the thread and your words. Thanks Roger, I know you are my fan. I am walking in this site since about one year, giving notices and information to whoever put threads on Napoleonic subjects, but perhaps some of you asked themselves: Who is this man? And because he is here, if he's not a figures painter or sculptor? Well, I have only a reply: passion. Passion for the figures, passion for the history and passion for the Napoleonic uniforms, but not only. The Native Americans too are of great interest for me. I paint also figures, but not professionals, and especially I spend a little time drawing...Napoleonic subiects of course. So, may be I'll put in the section "Painting" some figures painted (badly) by me, and some drawings. My idea was also to write some threads in the section "General Discussion" or better "References", telling something of Napoleonic personalities, or Corps of the French Army, or something of general interest tio give a basic knowledge of the French army and his dressing rules. I thought also to give some ideas how to obtain a new subject, transforming a kit yet on the market, with a little work of putty, or using spare parts. This could be a demanding job for me, to prepare and translate the text, so I'll make all this only if Planet members are interested in my proposal. Please, I beg you to reply here if my proposal is interesting for you.
Thanks in advance
Best regards to all.
Marcello

Marcello,
I love all your comments and admire your wealth of knowledge. I have printed several of your comments in case I may need them some day. It is very interesting to read your history comments on colours and dates and Regiments. I for one thank you for the photos you have put on this site and look forward to more from you.:) :)
Cheers

Hi John,
Thanks so much for your words. I'm glad if my information are useful for you. But referring the project I said, only you and Roger have demonstrated some interest, so I must think it over before to charge me with a demanding job if the PF menbers are not enough interested.
All the best
Marcello

Marcello my good friend you can also count me in for the project, since Napoleonic era is my favorite one and I would love to see some research from you. :) I simply can't wait.

Hi Marcello,

I join my fellow planeteers in the desire of this project.
As you know I contacted you on two ocasions for information regarding the portuguese troops, and I must say that the knowlodge you provided was invaluable.
So a project like the one you propose is most welcome. Just let me buy some printer cartridges and an external disk to store the information 'cause I wanna save it.

Go for it.

All the best,
Paulo

Marcello, I have also received much valuable research material, especially during the painting of my last Poste Militaire Chasseur.
I'm also looking forward to the start of your project.

Cheers

You have already helped me a lot; I would enjoy more of your advice and observations on the Grand Armee and its battles and foes.--Steve Scott

Marcello, I'd like to see some of your paintings/drawings and notes on Napoleonic subjects. One can never have enough references.~Gary

Dear Marcello i also wanna thank you for your non stop help in the site and not only as you also helped me with your connections regarding Athens Show..... i will be after your work for sure

Hi Marcello,

I would be intrested also. You have helped me in the past and
given me a vast amount of information.
I have some reference on Napoleonics, but its nice to discuss with
you about the uniforms.

Dee

Hi Dee,
I started the project with some drawings of my Marshalls' portraits in the section "Painting" and a guide to recognize the ranks of the French Napoleonic Army in the section "References". I hope this can be useful for your job. Another side of the project will be to give some references to make a conversion, starting from a production figure, to obtain a new subject with a bit of putty and spare parts. This in 54mm size, sorry, I know you generally are painting 120mm.
Thanks to all again
Cheers
Marcello

Hi Marcello,

Great... will take a look in the "painters" section.
Its OK.. I have mostly 120mm kits but I hope one day
to be better and try 54mm. So it will still be of great interest
to me. I know you will still be able to help me with my questions.

Dee
