Dear friends
here are some photos of my latest figure.
It is painted in acrylics and the padding of the clothing is only painted on it is not part of the sculpture.
i hope you like it .
best regards
Roberto
Beautiful, simply beautiful! It displays a very good variety of textures, not always easy to accomplish. I can imagine this piece painted differently, can imagine it showing much individual style and talent, but I can't imagine it painted better.
I am doing this one myself at the moment, but it is impossible that he came out as yours.
Just one thing about his shield. It is not a Marcomanni painting but some celtic i suppoos. The Marcomanni had a different style from painting then the Celts.
Look at this page under left.
The painting on the Marcomanni shield showed that the owner was a senior or a junior fighter. The shields where covered with leather on both sides.
But again, great, great painting.
hi Mark
thank you for your comment.I have to confess that i have use my immagination a lot to paint this figure.Did the Masrcomannics have padded clothings?I honestly don't know. You seemed to have a lot more knowlege than me on this and maybe you can help me. I would like to enter this piece at the Euromilitaire.
I have not ordered the tag with the title for this figure yet.
In your opinion if it is not a Marcoman Could this be a Celt?
Or maybe something else?
PLEASE LET ME KNOW
Thank you
Roberto
P.S. All the shileds on the page you show me are round. So maybe there is hope.
let me know your opinion.
Ciao
The shield is also a immagination in my opinion. But why not.
You want a title. Whell let's think.
The Marcomanni where a eastern europe Celtic tribe. They where never defited by the Romans. The Marcomanni lord Vercingetorix surrenderd himself to Julius Ceasar and that was the end of the Marcomanni.
So in a battle against the Romans the shield was captured and reworked. The Marcomanni where great craftsmen. The shield is then became as you painted it. (if you will you can repaint, but it is so beautifull).
That he fought a battle against the Romans can you see at the helmet he is holding. That is a Roman helmet.
Maybe now you have an idea for your title and something explaind.

Good luck, and again, the marcomanni looks aweeesommme.
