Mars Orange is a combo of PY42 and PR101 pigments or Indian Red (Venetian Red) and Mars Yellow. If you want to take a whack at mixing them up.

For future work, you can look up the pigments on the WN or other oil vendor sites and mix from there. If you want some links, let me know and I'll post them.

However, there is nothing wrong with buying it premixed if you want. :)

Did you want this as a component part of a mix someone posted? Depending on what specific paint they use there are many different approaches you might take, depending on your palette of course.

Any sites on the web with info like this for future use?
Sort of. There are a number of online sources for pigment information, including most reliable paint manufacturers' own sites of course as Keith says, but equivalents from brand to brand for a given colour name are very often approximate.

Some versions of this sort of colour are mixes as mentioned, but others are orangey shades of PR101 (see below) and some are orangey shades of PY42! So as you can see the colour is likely to vary quite a bit depending on maker.

I just bought mine at an art shop, saves any messing about or error. Windsor & Newton do it, although I am sure there are plenty of others..[/quote]
Hi Stephen, W&N discontinued this colour in the last range overhaul because it's similar to Terra Rosa. They also dropped most of the other mars names so no more Mars Brown, Mars Violet or Mars Yellow from them; they've kept Mars Violet Deep and Mars Black.
