Hello all,

I started on a new figure, this time a french sailor (matelot) around 1804.
The inspirition comes from an Osprey illustration (Warrior 97, French warship crews)

Scale is 1:35.
Putty is MS, duro
Hands are from Dragon, head is from the Hornet range.

In progress

Thanks for looking.

Nice sculpt! With the right painting this will be a really nice figure. Good luck for the folding on the arms.

Nice work Robert.
My critism is about the buttons on the jacket. They look oversized.

marc

I think they were fairly large on those seamen's jackets, much larger than on army uniforms, not sure if they were THAT large.

Nice sculpt on a not often seen subject. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

PS. How did you do the grid?

Hello,

Thanks for the replies.
The buttons where indeed fairly large, i think they look okay in comparison with the illustration. (my punch and die hasn't got an in between size...;))

The grid was made from evergreen plastic.

greets,
Robert Jan

Well Robert-jan,

back at it again I see.
With this rate of modelling you're pushing out a lot of nice figures in a short period.
(stuur mij een pb met de maten die je graag in een punch and die set zou willen zien, ben van plan om er een voor mezelf te maken. En als ik toch bezig ben ??? )

groet Wilem

Very nice sculpt.. im just curious, what is the figure actually supposed to be down?

To me it looks like he is holding a spear but to me it looks a little bit awkward but i can't really say much because i don't know much about the subject ;)

Hello all,

Sorry for the late reply..butt thanks for all the kind words.
(Willem, bedankt voor je aanbod, maar ik denk dat het met degene die ik heb ook prima lukt.)

Here is an update again. Some minor sculting to do on the hair and i have to add some buttons on his sleeves and his hat and clean up at the end.
I also have to do some painting on the base.
I replaced the hook with a spear (it still needs some work..), just like the reference picture from the osprey book.
I quite satisfied with the overall results. i hope the paint jobon the figure goes well. I hope to have it finished before SMC at Eindhoven.
