this is my latest commission piece. It's the 120MM Maurice Corry Crimean Rifles officer. I used Andrea and Vallejo acrylics to complete this guy. Great sculpt as you would expect from Maurice and the figure has great body language as well. This is the first full figure I've completed in a while as I've been working on a large Stalingrad diorama as well as about 5 other projects. Hope you like it as it is not my usual WW2 piece.

Hi dancecap3286,

This is good to see painted, I really like the contrast on the uniform colour, works well with the very nicely painted lacework (perhaps a little highlighting on this..but my personal preference) .

The sash adds a nice splash of colour .

Good flesh as well ......and its Acrylics as well(y)

Can you share your colour mix for the uniform and also the very nice work you did on the sword .

This is a nice pose and a lovely sculpt and I am sure the new owner will be well pleased.

Thanks for sharing

Love the greens really hard to paint and shade effectively...you've pulled it of with this figure also a great reference point for my attempt ... Thanks for posting

Excellent work.

I fancy doing this figure myself at some point, I think this is the first one I've seen completed.

I have to agree about the greens. Very difficult to paint but I am fairly happy with the outcome. It took a lot of trial and error to get it the way I wanted it but eventually it turned out.

Congratulations dan on a terrific job,the painting of the green is beautiful and very well done, what a great pose as well,i love crimean war subjects and you have done this piece proud, well done mate (y)

I Paticularily like the way the black lace work is noticeable against the green uniform...really hard to get right

Hi Dan,
I too really like the way this has turned out(y) what colours did you use for the uniform please?
cheers
Richie

Hi Richie. I actually used the Andrea GREEN paint set for this but I only used 4 of the 6 colors. I also used the system backwards. Instead of going from light to dark, I went from dark to light. I used a base color of #6 then I hi-lited with #'s 5, 1 & 2 in that order. Hope this helps you out.

A) Nice work, really well done.
B) Many thanks, I've got this figure and though not in front line of my stash, I was a little lost while trying to found references...(Yes, I tend to work on references much in advance of the real stuff:))
Now I know a little more, or why these forums are a blessing!

I'm really a WW2 guy. I can paint most anything WW2 era with a blindfold on but when it comes to stuff like this I rely on references heavily as well. My client was good enough to supply me with a good amount of color plates and detail shots. Thanks again.
