... in my luxurious photo studio next to the washing machine and the central heating furnace, I was taking the pictures of the upcoming PiLiPiLi bust.

For once, I decided to play with the 'sepia' function of my camera. Here's the result fresh from the memory card. .

This is the primed, unpainted bust. Who needs the painting anyway? Hope you like it.

The bust will be in the Man O War series. It's an Osage warrior inspired by George Catlin's paintings and writings. In fact, he could be from any of the Southern Siouan tribes (Oto, Kansa, Missouri, Omaha). With a little artistic license, he could also pass as a Pawnee (Guy's avatar) although the Pawnees spoke a different language.

You can give this guy the full treatment: war-paint, tattoos, painted buffalo robe, stuffed kingfisher head-dress, brass-studded gun-stock club,...

It's scheduled for mid-February (so I'd better hurry ).

In the mean time, here's another sepia picture I made this morning. The Technicolor version is next.

Wow Quang, very, very nice piece. I've always been a big fan of your crisp, well defined busts and this is no exception! If someday I can create something a fraction that good, I'd be a happy man indeed!

Thanks for sharing this preview, can't wait to pick it up myself. I vote we do a "painter's challenge" of this bust - much variety and style could be depicted with this subject. What do you think guys?? Maybe run it in March - May time frame (depending on availablility in all markets), gives us plenty of time to plan and make room in the queue....
