I vote we do a "painter's challenge" of this bust ...

Oh well, sounded like a good idea at the time, but it doesn't seem to be catching on. :( I'm sure that many of us will certainly enjoy painting this one though!

Thanks again Quang for another outstanding product. In fact I can see my figure collection growing considerably in the near future with the outstanding work being done by many of the folks on this site!

Jim, I did find it a brilliant idea but didn't react personally lest it would appear like I'm pushing my own ware.

Surprisingly, I never had the opportunity to share the few things I learned about Amerindian culture and how to reproduce them in miniature.

As a matter of fact, I'm planning to take notes during the painting of this particular piece (skin tones, historical and technological background, choices of body paints,...) which I think can be helpful for the Planeteers. I can also use them as a basis for a future magazine article.

The interesting thing in a challenge is that we can ALL learn by confronting our different approaches instead of the 'Follow the leader' authoritarian stance which can derive from a magazine article. It also makes the discussion more lively and entertaining than in a case of a 'I talk/you listen' relationship.

In any case, painting starts to-morrow (sigh).

Thanks Quang. ;) Please do post some pics of your painted bust (in progress would be great too as I would love to see how you approach subjects! :) ). And any info you'd like to share about what you've learned and how you go about your cratft would be a welcomed treat and great learning experience! I'm all ears...

Thanks, Frank.

Just hope my painted version looks half as good as the sepia.

First Gary, now you. What do you guys find in that war club? Should I say "Welcome (to the club)"?

Good luck with your new camera! (y)

Gordy,

I'm sorry but there's no in-progress pix of the sculpting. I was so anxious to get the bust(s) finished that I didn't bother to take pictures. :( Maybe next time?

Quang

Quang,

I would bet money ;) he will look much, much better than the sepia! (y) I have always liked seeing your painted work. I think you are just as talented a painter as you are a sculptor! I would also love to see how you sculpt, so if you get the chance please post some sbs.
