This model was originally planned as a shadow box but at the planning stage I decided that it would be easier and more impressive if I housed the ceremony in a scale Teepee.
The teepee is 15 inches in diameter and approx 18 inches high. The figures are 90mm Lost Battalion mannequins converted using Magic Sculpt. The teepee is lit by two grain of wheat light bulbs palced in the fireplace and covered with red, yellow and orange cellophane (thank goodness for people giving chocolates for Xmas gifts!)
I have already cut the teepee covering to fit and viewed the scene as I intend and - I am please to say it works!!!! I used artists canvas for the covering which is missing from the photos attached as there are two more figures to go into the teepee before it is fitted.
Bruno's lovely Native American female has prompted me to consider adding a female dressing the skin being stretched on the frame beside thje teepee. the firewood is from the garden hedge.
Picture 1 shows the wire frame in place (ignore the clutter in the background although the Batman Begins DVD case gives an idea of scale)

THe teepee liner in place - simply coloured card taped to the wire frame but it is effective when viewed properly and will be concealed by the outer cover.
The fireplace is also in place.

Some bags etc inside the teepee, they are cut from card and coloured with felt tip pens - as I control the viewing position and distance - there's no need for anything more realistic.

an overview.

Getting to this stage has taken me a little over a month, I would think about the same time scale again will see it finished.

Hope you like what you see so far - remember it will be viewed in semi darkness hence the simplistic painting etc.

WOW! Stephen, very ambitious project. Would love to see some pics when it is done. Hope you can get the "effect" in pictures!

Hi Stephen,

a beautiful idea, beautiful made. My highest compliment for your work. This will be a masterpice with a lot of atmosphere. I like, that your diorama tells a story by representing a Native Ceremony.
I'm very honoured, that my Apache maiden gave you the idea to add a femal to this diorama. I'm very interested to see the progress and of course the result!

Many greetings from Germany to Ireland!

Bruno
