Thanks for the comments and advice guys. I think ive officially switched over to the dark side. Ive been painting in oils for 5 years and my first figure in acrylics is looking better then any of them. Im not looking forward to painting the face though. Actually kind of nervous about it :(

Hi guys. I finished painting the white westments and hat, the red gloves and leather. For the white I used Burnt Umber mixed w/White for the base and then more White added for the highlights. The leather was basecoated in Leather Brown and then highlights were the base mixed with Medium Flesh and the shadows were the base mixed with Black. The gloves were painted using the same mixes as the surcoat. I painted the hat using my white mix and the went in with a mix of Brown and Gold for the yellow edging and i added some Red and Blue Jewels.

Ive also begun work on the face. Ive repainted it four times. Im having tons of trouble with it. The eyes are a royal pain. What you see here is the forth attempt. So far just a basecoat of Golden Sand and the eyes have been roughed in. As i was taking the pictures i noticed that the eyes are off again so ill have to make my fifth try at those :( . Any thoughts or comments are most appreciated.

Started work on the face. I used a mix of Golden Sand and Burnt Cadmium Red for the base. Then 1st highlight was Gold Sand. 2nd Highligh was Gold Sand/Basic Skin Tone and 3rd was just Basic Skin Tone. Shadow was Burnt Cadmium Red and Gold Sand about 2:1. and then Cadmium Maroon for final highlight. Im not totally satisfied with the eyes but i repainted them about 7 times so they are as good as they are going to get :). I also started on the inner surcoat. Its going to be a golden brown color. Any thoughts or comments would be very helpful guys! I could really use some advice on what to do with the beard. I have no clue how to paint this area.

Hi guys. Im almost done with this guy. Ive finished most of the figure, i just have to do shading on the boots and fix the right hand (it fell off when i tryed ot fit the staff and now i have to repaint it). I painted the armor using Mr Metal Colours over a Black acrylic basecoat. I used a mix of Dark Iron and Chrome Silver and then once it dryed i hit it with a Black oil wash. Ive also begun work on the groundwork. I used the kits base and added to it using Magic Sculpt and various rocks. It was painted Black Brown and then i went in with various drybrushing and washes. Im going to add some grass and whatever else i can think off so it is not done yet. Still a ton more work to be done: staff, banner, stool, helmet, hammer :) Once again, any thoughts or comments are more welcome. Any ideas for the groundwork? I wanted him on a rocky outcropping. Thanks!

Dave, you really worked this one well. The eyes look good from the angles shown, and the contrasts are well done.

Nice work.

Thanks Kyle!

Guys? Any comments would be very helpful, i want to do the best i can. How does the groundwork look? Colors on the figure ok? How does the mail look? Anything would be very much appreciated :)

Ok, the figure is pretty much finished. I also completed work on the helmet and the stool. The stool pad was painted bacl using a base of Medium Flesh and Black, highlights with homre Medium Flesh and shadows with pure Black. The stool legs were painted with various shades of brown. The staff was painted with various shades of brown. The purple tassles were painted in a base of Intense Blue + Flat Red + White. The highlights were with White + Base and the Shadows were with more blue added. The helmet was painted with a base of acrylic Black and with Mr Metal Colours Chrome Silver mixed with Dark Iron. A Black oil wash was given and the gold is acrylic Golden Brown and then highlights in acrylic Gold. I also added grass to the base and gave it a wash of Raw Umber oil paints. Any thoughts or comments are very welcome. I have the standard, the warhammer and the shield to finish. Thanks guys!
