Is there a reason why so many people register without putting their location?
It seems to me that it would encourage greater contact within countries if locations were added-for example we can keep in contact regarding shows arrange meets etc. At Euro we arranged a Planet get together!?
I have met many new modellers through the forums...what do others think?

nice idea - maybe it would be possible to arrange regional meets in different areas - ive noticed that there seem to be a few local to us?

I think it would be a good idea Keith. I suspect that some people are hesitant because of worries about giving away too much personal info on the Interweb. That's understandable of course, but you can always just give a general location (county, state, province or whatever) or put something along the lines of my own "on the edge of the beautiful Peak District".

Got to agree Keith there does seem to be a lot of modelers in hiding,
or perhaps they are just in exile

This and some have difficulty with how to update the location

Some individuals might like to keep their location obscure to avoid prejudice or to maintaine online security/anonymity...

An optional field for location would be what we already have?

Geographical location selection is an optional feature during account registration. If the user choses to add their location at a later date it can be done via the “user CP” “Edit your details” Link
