Hello guys, I'm going to declare this one finished. Thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish. A good figure from a firm producing really good stuff. I hope you like, as always, any comment, queries etc. please always ask. Excuse the sad pictures. Also - I made the base as well, so even more satisfying. Thanks as ever
Anthony

Thanks as always for the kind words. I did enjoy that one, actually. It really was fun to do. In fact, I started with the shield, as that's where stuff is mostly likely to go wrong. Thankfully, it didn't.

Hi Anthony

Lovely painting on a good figure , your better than me with all the flesh to do so well done

Richie beat me to it with the shield shows how well done the piece is by you

Thanks so much for the kind compliments. Much appreciated, guys.
If it helps anybody, here is a short SBS I did with the shield. It is fairly easy to follow. I start off in pencil, mapping out proportions (very important!) and where I want things to go. When happy, I firm this up in black. Then the colours come and I flesh things out. Always be critical and be ready to re-do stuff you're not happy with. Again, any questions, please do ask.

I'm currently trying to tackle a 15th century pavise (way in over my head on this one), so your post is appreciated.

Perhaps the single most important thing for me was this. I changed my mindset. I stopped thinking of it as 'difficult'. I decided to call it 'time-consuming.' I hope that makes sense and is helpful to you. Good luck and thanks ! (y)
