Hi all,

Just wanted to ask what would be the best undercoat to use when using Humbrol's Metalcote polished steel (code: 27003)?

TIA.

Kind regards.

Black is a pretty common basecoat for metallics. You could also try a brown or a dull blue for a different effect (although you'd be hard-pressed to notice any difference in my experience).

You could work directly over the primer too, Metalcotes are pigmented enough that even if you use a white primer they'll cover.
