This photo comes from a posting by Pat Holscher on the Military Horse forum. I'm trying to find out where he got it, etc. What a great subject for a figure! And no... I'm not intending to do it. Far too much going on already!!!!

All the best,
Dan

He looks like the "We don't need no stinking batches" guy from the Treasure of Sierra Madre. Are you sure it's not the actor?

I do agree that it would be an intersting subject.

All I know about him is what Pat Holscher tells me!

Gary - he's all yours, fella!!! Woohoo! ;) Try downloading the photo and blow it up a little. I think it gets better. The shirt he's wearing is strangely fuzzy and almost knobby...unusual. And look at the ornate knife. That must be a one of a kind.

Keith - nah...that guy was much uglier than this hombre.

All the best,
Dan

What a great figure that would make.(y) This one of my favorite subject and has been since I read John Reed's book on the Mexican Revolution. I actually have an idea for a piece, I am just waiting for enough figure to come out to fill the space I am dealing with (large building facade). :(

It wasn't the pose that attracted me. It was the immense hat, the leathery skin, the seamed face, the veiny hands. I disagree about converting Billy the kid into this guy. I don't think it would work. Besides, he needs to be sculpted from scratch by somebody who knows what he's doing - and that obviously lets me out - how about um...Gary!!

Subtle, huh, Gary?

All the best,
Dan

Why not my friend? I will like to see this figure modeled by you Dan, beside, the works that we think dificults are the best to learn.

I´m agree, this subject are specially, and there are not much figures about, specially REAL Mexican revolutionaries, this soldiers were more than "big hat drunked men"

Share you another image that I´m working on...

Regards.

Alex

Alex, my friend, thank you for the encouragement, but honestly, to quote Dirty Harry, "A man has to know his limitations." I'm not actually concerned that I couldn't do the figure justice. I just have too many going on in various stages of disrepair. If I add one more to the bench, I'm afraid the darn thing will fall down! Anybody that wants this one can have him!

MERRY CHRISTMAS! JOYEUX NOEL! FELICE NAVIDAD! HAPPY HANUKKAH!
