Hello Everybody...

This past weekend was the 2018 MFCA show, and it was a great show and a great time. I have a ton of pictures that were taken, so I thought I'd share them with everybody.

Some highlights of the show for me were:
  • Seeing old friends and meeting new ones
  • Seeing two Pegaso box art pieces painted by Diego Ruina (AMAZING!)
  • Ivo Preda had a great class on painting horses with oils. As I fairly recently just posted in the WIP forums how to paint a horse in acrylics (and get a similar look to oils), I was super interested in seeing the master do it in oils. Ivo was super cool, kind and generous with sharing his knowledge, and it was a fantastic time. As a matter of fact two days later my buddy and I spent the whole day painting some horses in oils and I can now see myself spending much more time with oils. It was a lot of fun.
  • Last but not least, one of my pieces that I brought with me took home a GOLD medal (although they displayed my name wrong at the awards ceremony) :) :)
With that said, I can't wait till the next one. There were a ton of incredible figures and dioramas on display, and it was very inspiring and motivating to see all the amazing work there.
Here is the link to the photos, please take a look!

Lovely set of photos, Phil, and many congratulations on your Gold Award. Nice to see how you were inspired by Ivo......I had a similar epiphany many years ago watching Max Longhurst painting Historex horses with pure oils.

Thanks everybody, I'm glad you all enjoyed them .

Paul, I like this venue much better, and it's only 30 minutes or so to down town Philadelphia, so their are tons of things to do.

Regards,
Phil
