Joe,
Thanks, dude. Perhaps I'll do one of Idi Amin next

Rog,
That can be arranged.

Hola Pete!

The wall is super! Looks very nice the way you painted it in warm tones. The figure also looks very good. I agree that maybe some more weathering is in place but I wouldn't do too much of it. I assume that when Sadam was in power he would make sure the paintings of him on the streets were kept up. Maybe not though. Keep up the great work man!

Project Update ...

I've weathered the wall by gently scrubbing in some pastels (a mix of buff, light tan, and light gray). Now it looks slightly scuffed, as if blasted by lots of sand and desert winds. I made a sandal out of apoxie sculp last night, which I'll paint tonight and affix to the groundwork (sole facing up as if left as an "insult" to the character in the portrait). I've also added 4 spent shell casings behind the GI. I rolled out a thin sheet of apoxie sculp last night, which I'm going to break up & paint to simulate shattered pieces of tile.

It was also suggested to add some trash, such as paper, strewn about. A friend of mine - Paul Kelly - shared with me a method involving tissue paper and a wash of white glue & water. Anybody else got a good method for simulating strewn trash?
