This is my latest figure. I've painted it in oils over acrylics, with the crossbelts, metalics and cap in acrylic. The cap was the hardest part as the quilted finish is very finely cast, and the present wash was the most effective way that I found to paint it. The only change from the kit was to paint the shako cover in a pale colour, as the black finish on the box top wasn't issued in India, where this model is supposed to be based. In a couple of weeks time when the oils are completely dry I'll give it a coat of matt varnish to flatten the finish.

Dave, very nice, you did a good job.
the only thing I would due differently is maybe give it a light mist of dullcoat to tone down the sheen just a bit, than again it might just be the photographs.

Cheers
Roc. :)

Thanks for the compliments guys, he will get a coat of matt varnish after a couple of weeks for the oils to dry properly.
Herb - thanks again for donating this one to the collection!

Bye Dave!!
Beautifull work, and very good subject.
Next time, if you agree, work more on the separation of different parts with more dark wires, kepping the colors more cleen as possible.
Good work Dave I forword to see other works of yours.

ciao Stefano ;)

Dave,

You did a good job on that. May i give a suggestion for the blue collor.
I've see that you darken the blue with black; if you wanted it not so hard then you must paint wet in wet with a violet colour to shade for instance Magenta.
For lighten up don't use white (it looks greyish) but Naples yellow with a little touch of white.
You will see that the blue looks better.
And when you dull-coat the figure, please will you post again.
For the rest, keep painting. You are doing a great job.
