Well guys, much like Jason Green, I just barely got this one done before the Chicago show. I was litterally making touch ups at my sisters house the night before we left! It was a close call. This is MIG's fantastic Greek Hoplite bust sculpted by Mr. Young Song. What a beauty! The paint just slides right onto this one. I wanted a battle weary look with pleanty of dirt and roughness. I hope he looks as if he turned out that way. Sorry the pictures aren't the best, but I think you get the idea. Thanks for looking! Any and all comments welcome!

Beautiful painting Jay. Well worth the struggle you went through. You have achieved the well worn tired look.

Hi Jay
Smart looking bust my friend I like the "sharks teeth" pattern on the helmet
You have captured the worn tired look very well Did you look in the mirror!LOL
Cheers mate

John

Jay my friend, that's really nicely done. Your fleshtones, I believe, show exactly that tired, battle worn face. Neat work overall.

Guy, John, Xenofon,
many thanks! John, after the whirlwind trip to Chicago we just made, I know I certainly could have been the model for this worn out chap! HA! Thanks again guys.

Hey Jay,

It is really nice but I think it was even BETTER in person!! I really admire your work and always look forward to your display. Great to see you and Matt again.

Joe

Jay, I told you in Chicago what I think about your work. These photos are crap :):)( like the ones I take) and don't the piece any justice at all. Well done buddy and congrats on your award

Stephen Mallia

Jay, thats funny that we both cut it so close. I literally finished touching mine up on Wed. before the show! I have to tell you, this was one of my favorite pieces at the show and Joe is right - it did look even better in person. Congrats on your gold!!

Jason

I can only second all the DESERVED praise you've recieved here Jay.......

Now, how I envy ALL those who saw this beauty in "the flesh" :(

Congrats on your gold buddy.......well deserved IMHO :)

Ray ;)

Great bust! Love it! The metals are my favourite part! Did u make the sloping plinth yourself? Otherwise where did you buy it? Best wishes //ALEX

Eddy, Joe, Damian, Stephen, Chris, Jason, Costas, Ray, Tony and Alex,
many, many thanks gentlemen for the kind comments!

Joe, it was great to see you as well, the shows go way to fast and I always wish I had more time to chat with everyone! Cool truck man!

Stephen, it was a pleasure meeting you and getting to talk together. Your absolutely correct about my pics, my poor old digital camera (about 9 years old now) is having a hard time keeping up! I need to invest in another one. I was really excited to see your pieces in person as well, you do some stunning work and your award was well deserved as well!

Jason, nothing like the last minute rush right! Keeps us on our toes. Your samurai was one of my fovorite pieces at the show as well. I hope to get a better look at him at Tulsa next year. Congrats to you as well!

Ray, it's one of my favorites as well. I just had to get to it!

Alex, the base is a one-off made by a buddy of mine Matt Crofford. He took some Ebony stock, cut it down and shaped the base on his sander. I finished it with a small beveled base (I cut it off in the pics). If you are serious about it, I can maybe get you in touch with him. He might be willing to make some more. Let me know!

Jay,
Every time I see your new bust I think it's nicer than the last one.
You are getting constant better results with every painted piece.
Rest of us can only admire :)
Superb painting and a nice tanned skin tone.
Cheers,
A.

P.S.
Well deserved medal,..congrats !
