Been a long time between projects & pleased to finally get another one done. Especially pleasing as this is one I’ve been involved in since its conception with Jean-Luc, owner of Wars and Peaces Miniatures.

Jean-Luc designed this as part of his passion for history & in particular the Gallipoli campaign. Working with master sculptor Benoit Cauchies, we developed this figure & another one to represent young Māori on frontline working together.

“Hoani - The Observer”
NZ Native (Māori) Contingent
Gallipoli Bombing Team 1915
Scale: 65mm
Sculptor: Benoit Cauchies

Hi Mike

WOW! .....great to see you posting this , fine painting and presentation as always , love the weathering and details like the hardtack biscuit , the belt

A pleasure to see and a tribute to the heroic Māori

Nice sculpt by Benoit

Hope we can see the other project when possible

Thanks for sharing

Nap

Amazing and inspirational work as always Mike, good to see another project from you. I particularly like the way you handled the dirt on the figure, that's so challenging to get right and you've really made it look like he's been lying in that dirt. Fabulous!

Appreciate comments Nap.
Yep super little sculpt by Benoit & he will be joined by his mate “Wiremu” in coming months. I’ll be sure to share here, as well as other projects I’m working on.
Amazing detail on the textures in such a small scale. Fantastic work. Rgds Victor
simply superb execution on all fronts -brillant
Hi Mike
Well done, I love it!
OMG that's amazing!
Thanks Victor, John, Panzer & Neal.
Value your encouragement - another little guy to come.
You can see locating key for him in bottom right of 4th photo.
Love it!(y)

Beautiful representation of a professional. He may be filthy and tired from being on extended watch, but his rifle is clean and at the ready.
Joe
You got it Joe :) One job!
Actually rifle is for Wiremu, his bomb throwing mate, who Hoani is helping harass the Turkish lines.
Thanks for feedback as always.
Another great job. Have been eyeing this figure for awhile--does the rifle come with it?
Thanks Ometz, you can ask Jean-Luc for rifle, he has these as spares & really lovely sculpt by Benoit too.
He included this for the other figure in the pair after I suggested they needed to have one handy.
Awesome work Mike. You really did an excellent job showing the conditions, mud, dirt, and dust these guys had to deal with all the time. Awesome brush work, Amigo!
Thanks Ski! Been long time between drinks mate & good getting the paint brushes wet again. Good to know he comes across ok.

Appreciate kind comments Nigel.
Dust & dirt includes actual Chunuk Bair soil I liberated in my visit there in 2015, mixed with pastels & flowed in with medical Methylated Spirits. Will have to see if I can replicate effect with his partner soon.
Brilliant figure Mike, really love the authenticity you have put into uniform when living in a hole in the ground.
Cheers Simon
Especially nice to get your comment Simon as know you’ll have lots more experience of this than I would.
Thanks for commenting mate!
