UK stockist? Great piece all round. My great uncle died of wounds in Gallipoli and was buried at sea. Very poignant.

Sorry to hear about your Great Uncle mate :-(

We will never truly understand the sacrifice these young men made, but my sons who are their age now have less to worry about thanks to them.

Stockist - Steve Kirtley normally has had some in the past.
Note though they are not released officially until this weekend, so maybe a lead time before they are available globally.

Stay safe,

Mike

This is certainly one of Andy's best pieces imo, and you've really brought it to life with a great paint job Mike, well done mate.

Good to get your feedback Mark, any chance we'll see you in Brisbane this weekend?

Andy continues to grow in his sculpting skills & this will be a topic that we'll discuss over the weekend f'sure.

Fantastic collaboration between Andy and Mike. Mike you've certainly captured the essence of that famous scene and brought out the best in Andy's sculpt.

Value your comments Tony as your input helped inspire this artwork.
I wasn't aware of this image before it was shared here & am intrigued by it now after much study.
Not sure of its origin but there appears to be a smile on his face or a quirky grimace.
Do you know anything more about its provenance?

Trust you have a good show this weekend on other side of Aussie.

Mike

Hello Mike, You have really captured the mood with your excellent painting, of Andy's great looking piece. I think this is one of your best efforts. The weathering on the figures is very realistic, the black and white photo, looks like it came from a book on the subject. A very moving piece. Great work Mike. Congrats, and Regards, SG:)(y)(y)

Thank you Sturm for kind notes here. B&W was an experiment to try & simulate the original image.
Agreed on subject, with effort this piece tells an evocative story.

Awesome Mike , as usual amazing attention to detail , love the weathering on the figures .

Neil

Neil thanks buddy :)
I'm keen to catch up weekend 21-22 Sep in Auckland to share modelling & family news if you can make it.
I'll be doing some painting demos to encourage others to give figures ago.

How does this sound?

Mike

Mike, these pics really show the piece well, love the weathering, which is sometimes missing from pieces from this period. Well done and look forward to viewing this in Nov. Les

Thanks! Weathering is a challenge, was worried I'd gone over top on this, maybe, maybe not ;-)
Would have like to have added wound, blood from ears or mouth but thought better if it for boxart.
Tried to give Casualty a pallid complexion to hint at his discomfort. Less is more?

Can't wait to share time with you again Les at Armistice Day, make sure you bring some of your latest work too :)

Mike

Andy´s work is really unique, his poses are very natural.
Looks good Mike and the B&W photo is almost real.
Pedro.

Agree Pedro on Andy's ability to suggest movement, weight etc.
Thanks for posting & pleasing to hear B&W shot worked.

Great sculpt and paint. I like the little touches like the casualty's shorts pulling up above his puttees. Plus the proper sense of weight and balance can be seen.

Colin

Ta Colin!

You're on it with Andy capturing these small touches that help give this an authenticity with a faithful representation of the iconic image.

Stay safe,

Mike

Hi Mike
Love the way the wounded soldier has a slight bluish tinge to his flesh, poor bugga is in a bad way. Also like how you have given them a real young look, as were most of the boys who joined up back then. Brilliant work

Good to hear the "bluish" tinge comes through Ben.
Andy did the business on the young faces, I just splashed the paint around this.
You gonna be in Brissie this weekend or over in Perth?

Be good to meet.

Mike

Wonderful work Mike , looking forward to catching up and seeing this one this weekend
Cheers
Al

Can't wait to see you again Al & hoping I'll have a special "guest" for you to meet ;-)

Also know this duo has special significance to you to mate.

See you soon,

Mike
