Interesting you mentioning the MM website, yes your'e absolutley right, you only need to look at the site and it says it all,i also have to agree with you about PF,i've mentioned this in previous posts and i too have learnt so much on here and i have made so many new friends,if it had'nt been for PF i would never have got to meet the people i'm friends with now and also yourself for setting up a great meal at folkestone last year and meeting new friends and painters alike,i feel very grateful for that.

I too have collected all the Figure Internationals amd Historical Miniatures, thank god we have these or i would'nt have any publication to enjoy today.

Magazines, magazines and more magazines; my turn, in the mid 70's Military Modelling magazine was my window to the world on military miniatures and I bought it. I was enjoying this hobby in a vacuum, took a while to find other modelers who did figures besides 1/35 armor support in my city. Other magazines came and went, Gazettes des Uniformes, Military Modeler, Tradition, Battle, Modelworld and Campaigns, etc. I stopped buying MM years ago because of the articles on figure painting were repeating themselves and I was not learning anything new, also the $$, but I do realize that newbies have to get info. (I have developed my own methods) I have picked up the odd Euromilitaire Special after a good look see at the news stand. I will buy the odd armor mag. because some articles spill over into my other automotive modeling interests and hardcopy is nice to have. The internet and sites like this offer more to an established hobbyist like myself.
Cheers eh !

I have to agree with Keith, forums especially Planet, give you the opportunity to interact globally with like minded people. Also if you have a problem/query you'll get an answer fairly quickly. Instead of trawing through a load of mags, in the hope there is an article. But that can be part of the fun.;)
If MM has decided in its infinite wisdom to go down the one stop shop modelling magazine route, then so be it. They've obviously thought about the direction they wish to take the magazine. They haven't responded to the negative feedback, having said that the consensus on the MM forum appears to be.
It's best thing that's happened to it in years. Sycophants
For every negative there's a positive. No mag worth buying=Money saved.
Forums rock!
Carl.

Like Brian I have a complete set of Historical Miniatures and constantly refer to the articles-in my view the best figure magazine in English ever, just so sad that it had to be wound up. Are we modellers partially to blame I wonder spending more time on our computers instead of providing feedback and articles for the magazines-just a thought. Hoping to repeat the exercise this year Brian!
