But are the last pics a bit 'blurred' or is this your way of making the dots ( looks very good)

for myself, I always use the mint green, and later on some filters for cohesion on the jacket.

I love the 'islands', very nice outlining.

Shame you had to go with other figures after the accident

How about using a lighter base colour and adding the brown and pink islands and multi spots over the top, it does make life a little easier when doing peadot camo

Saying that though, I think you are doing a great job on the scheme

Hello René; mint green makes great sense actually; the green I use as base for my mixes is sold as 'olive green' but I think it much more close to 'spring grass' and even mint than olive. Anyway I don't use it straight from the jar but mixed to other colors to get both dark and light greens. Regarding the filters I'm quite reluctant to use them as I've tried once and the result wasn't up to what I expected... On the other hand I might have overdone the thing.

Regarding the blurry appearance, I think that's an effect of the light source I use to take pics; as my paint isn't absolutely dull it might have reflected light abusely, which produced a blurred effect. Next time I'll try to tune the light source to avoid this.

BTW René, your name sounds french; if you speak french we could have a conversation in this beatiful language later on

Thx Andy; well I think MiniArt should invest in new injection system... They really present the worse casting I've ever seen until now. That's quite a pity because their sculpting is really good.

Regarding the base color for the peadot I've used brown basically because until now I've been much more a 'highlighter' than a 'shader' (this said it might change in the future); that's why I like starting from a dark base that I lighten progressively. But once more, I'm still learning the basics, my approach will certainly change with more eperience

My ancestors were French, think my name had to do something with 'dureté' or 'du Rêt' a village that might existed once in Napoleontic era.

My family went to the Orient and came back around '52.
I have a more than mediocrate interest in this language, studies it at highschool in Holland but really have to live for 5 weeks in France to speak it properly.

I like as a base fore the pea pattern a flesh tone which I wash in brown teints.

the filtering Is done in a stage where my oils are solidly dried, done with Talens white spirit ( less agressive) with burnt sienna or maybe other gamma when I need to make difference between some figures.

no hi- jacking of your topic Florel, but just my effects on the pea:

I like filtering for a worn out look of the fabriques.

Thx for the pic; your interpretation is actually outstanding. I like the idea of darkening a bright basecoat with brown whashes, it makes a great effect on your MGgunner. BTW Is this a guy you've sculpted on your own? And did you paint the entire camo with oils?

totally sculpted by me, accept for Tan's Dogtaghead and shoes, tools equipment.
I was very much inspired by his 'modeling waffen ss figures'

I painted everything with oils, besides the undercoating.

I like to play with light games and on top of the figure white is easily blended in with oils.

Hello René; thanks for sharing this SBS; I must say I've been fascinated by the progress on this guy (the sketches are gorgeous); both sculpting and paintjob are stunning, especially the highlights which are really impressive. It seems to me that you get the best of oils blending possibilities, that's amazing.

I see a lot of potential in your accurate way of handling the pea dot.

ofcourse the base colour for the pea dot is somewhat 'aubergine coloured'
But I like the worn out look , lighter base colour so the dots get more 'alive'

has to do with depht, which was originally the plan behind the dots.

I say, trial and error and soon you will find the ultimate way for this marvelous costume...

Hello planeteers; slow progress on this guy as I'm quite busy at my work this days . The back is almost done and I've been working on the front of the jacket, which is I think the most difficult part because of the position of the arms and the presence of many details concentrated in a very small area. Still tons of things to do but I hope to be done by next monday.

Hi everyone; hope you all had a mery Christmas; mine has been very nice. I have got some time to play with brushes during my Xmas vacation, so I've progressed on the Nemrod tanker I'm currently working on. It is almost there, with still some stuffs to detail and tidy up here and there; I'll finish this tomorrow and try to take pics of the guy fited on the tank, which also had good progress these days.

Pheew, Finished! I will certainly rework some details on the face (lower lip, insignias on the cap, etc) but basicaly I'm done with this guy. I'm afraid I missed the cleanup of the left hand; I'll try to do better next time. Here are the pics; hope you like them.
