Lufbery bust 1.jpg

This is a PERFECT COMPANION to the busts (Richthofen,
Rickenbacker, Udet, and Goerth) included in the 1/48
DML kits in the early 90's.

Another classic sculpt from Master Mike!

No doubt modellers from around the world will be grateful to Model Cellar for making these beauts available again. :)

Now how about a double bust of Whiskey and Soda, Lufbery's lion cub mascots?

superb work as always

last week (6th september) was the 250th birth of the Marquis de la Fayette.

(just to say a little word about him :) )

Hi Planeteers,

Thanks for the kind words regarding our new release.

Captnenglish,
RE: ...finding the other busts... Try looking on ebay. Search "dragon" + "1/48" (or other likely combinations). They do pop up from time to time. In fact, there is currently a Dragon 1/48 D.VIII with Goerthe bust (still factory sealed). The auction ends in 5 days+. The opening bid is $9.99, and there are currently NO BIDS!?. The Fokker Triplane with Richthofen comes around periodically too and will typically end up selling for around $50.00. Of course, you could always take the bust and re-sell the kit (with out bust) for about $20 - I've seen that. That way you recoup some $$, and then the bust only cost you $30 - good way to look at it =). I personally got the D.VII with Udet and the Spad with Rickenbacker for around $25 - $30 each. I can't recall the specific prices, but that is typical for those two. However, I did pay $52 for the Fokker/Richthofen! OUCH!. ...now you are on a quest !LOL!! Happy hunting!!

I Like your comment about Whiskey and Soda! Did you know we have a 120mm full figure of Lufbery with Whiskey and Soda? - check our catalog. This was sculpted by the late Jim Payette. Jim was of the "vintage" of Terry Worster, Ron Highnote (sp?) and Pat and Ollie Bird (Series 77?). As you know, these folks helped pioneer and grow our hobby. Jim was a wonderful man. He had his roots in the Atlanta club I believe, and even introduced me to Bob Knee at an MFCA show years ago! What lineage!!

Again... thanks for the nice comments everyone.
Regards,
Paul

Hello Paul,

Just checked out your website for Jim Payette's version of Luftbery and the cubs. Despite the years, it's a great vignette with plenty of atmosphere.

I don't buy many figures  but one I did get is your 120mm Guynemer. A true classic!!! Can't recommend it enough.

Payette, Hinote and the others were way before my time but the names are familiar indeed (Campaigns magazine was my bedside read for a long, long time). Those guys are real myths and are now sitting with other gods in the mini-world Valhalla.

Keep up the good work!

Quang

Paul, thanks for the heads up, but I don't/won't deal with ebay, si I guess I have continue to trawl the deep dark recesses for these.

Thanks Guys....!

Yet more ancient history for me. But the good news is that Paul and I have discussed doing all "new" bust for this old series. The bottom line is that there will be others in the future. So, stay tuned!

Cheers!!

Mike
