This hasn't come up for a few years but its worth a reminder given we have new members. Rio Rondo is a very useful site with lots of very nice photos of completed scale model horses. Who knew that we have a sister hobby that covers modeling scale equines without riders? I bought their OOP reference book many years ago and it is truly the bible for painting horses in oil. http://www.riorondo.com/books/cft/ (see the links on the left for examples) The book is available in the secondary market....no word on the reprint announced in '08. RR also offers some useful tools and tack materials. But best of all are the colour photos of some of that hobby's best modellers' work

Cheers Colin,..

Thanks for posting this.(y) It does show the diversity of painting horses and their muscle structure..

I was especially interested in the 'Chestnut', colouring options, some great stuff to be had here! .. nice one.;)

High Regards,

Mark

Colin - wow you're not kidding - I think I'll save that $175 and spend it on more kits!
Mark - yes , it looks a simple place to start from, I have only recently got myself some new oils to practise this method (use acrylics usually)
Cheers
