Finding a figure modeler among the rich and famous is like finding an honest politician in New Jersey......there aren't any.
Figure modeling is a lonely pursuit....the rich and famous spend their time pursuing wealth and fame and you don't get that laboring over a 4 inch miniature. Some of the rich and famous collect miniatures. That cause they're rich and famous.

Years ago I heard Alan Alda (M.A.S.H fame) was at MFCA with his wife. I'm not sure which one is/was interested.

I heard that Robert DeNiro, was a bit of a collector, but I could be mistaken, he must have other things to take up his spare time, surely

It popped up as an bi-story in the movie Ronin.

Also some say they saw Peter Jacksson at Euro Militaire in 2003.

I dont think that famous and rich people are more generally "above" this hobby as a leisure.

Former Swedish Prime Minster and UN-Peace negotiator Carl Bildt is know to do some airplane modelling in his spare time. An rather well known radio-dj does figuremodelling and has shown his hobby on televsion.

Lemmy from Motörhead is also know to build WWII aircraft.

Cheers

I think that my favorite VIP would be World Expo 2005 guest speaker John Rosengrant. He is pretty high up there on the perverbial totem pole. He has a long list of movie credits, he's a member of the actor's guild and has even wore several of his costumes for a few scenes in the movies that he's associated with. The man is a master modeler and make up artist. Regardless of scale. A true inspiration.
Here's a few things he's been associated with. Hold your heart.

I'd say that was a pretty good resume for being VIP don't you? His name even flows off your lips... repeat after me, John Rosengrant, master modeler. Nice ring eh? hahaha (big fan) His first words at the seminar at World Expo 2005 was, something of the effect; For those of you that don't know me, I'm John Rosengrant, and I'm truely humbled to be in a room with so many amazing artists. I think it was at that point I blacked out and just kept replaying those words in my head over and over. Then I was awaken by Herb Fogerty retired fire chief and dear friend, he said, "John, John, wake up! You know that he's talking about everyone else right?" For one special moment I thought that I'd died and gone to heaven. Thanks Herb for keeping me grounded!

Warmest regards

John EasyOff Boilard ;)

Wasn't John Rosengrant the alien, or at least created the costume, in the "let's use Fedex" superbowl commercial a year or two ago?
I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprized if it was him. He does have many credits involving aliens.

Funny, but last night on channel 5 here in the UK was a show on the greatest movie monsters - I found the show by accident ('cos no-ne wathes C5). And they did a huge feature on Jurassic Park 3, and had a long interview with John - and I could see Trevor Hensley operating some of the animatronics as well - Big grin on my face as I'd chatted to them both at the Expo! :) :)
