It'll come back, but don't persevere with stuff you're not feeling.
Go at something totally different from your usual but give it your usual attention to detail.
There are some spectacular sci fi pieces that are not out and out fantasy. Particularly good are Nuts Planet stuff.
Quite a good jaunt to that militaria fair yesterday but not worth the trip from Stewarton as it was very much for collectors of WW2 stuff.
Picked up Abteilung 502 flesh oils set as did Davie, be interesting to see how they shape up.
Really just a lazy way of painting flesh.

In fact feeling a bit jaded a couple of months ago I decided to have a go at a couple of plastic bipelanes in 72nd scale (not too expensive and easy to store when built) First up is a Nieuport which is prooving a bit of a battle, but I'm gradually learning how to do it and quite enjoying the change. Maybe I'll do another after this or maybe I'll be tempted back by a figure (Lord knows there are enough laying around here)

Important thing is to enjoy what you are doing. I find modelling is important to take me away from everything else for a time and allow you to switch off (I get the same buz from bouldering indoors - the level of concentration and commitment are the key atractions)

Nice work, Paul You're a braver man than me. I've always been intimidated by aircraft but you've obviously got the touch for it. I did the same last year with armour. Haven't touch kits in 30 years but had a lot of fun with them. Time to get back to my grey army of figures

Normally just a slapper on of acrylics on busts ....I will have a change of interest by painting up animals heads/busts including releases from Robo Rocket ( Kaola ) and Scientific Models ( Orangutan ) .....something different and it's good grovelling points for me with SWMBO as well !

Couldn't agree more, if you're not "in the zone" it's a waste of time and you'll inevitably end up doing a slapdash & slipshod job. So best leave it and do something else instead.

I've always got all sorts on the go - in various stages of completion - for that very reason: I'll get to - say - 80% or 90% finished and then the mojo just evaporates. So I'll start something else.

End result: stuff gets finished eventually when my enthusiasm for a particular piece returns. But that can be days, weeks, months or sometimes even years later. So stuff gets finished at a slower rate than it gets started, and the "Shelf of Shame" ends up creaking even more. That's the downside.

I think we all go though the mojo block every once in a while... I have way too many half built kits that have been shelved.. Still there comes a time when the mood comes back and I will start and even finish something.. I'm trying to lift my latest block by building a Panhead VBL 1/35 scale by Tiger Models.. ( not a manufacturer I am familiar with ), Ive bought the Black Dog Modern French figures, so fingers crossed I will finish this little lot before Xmas...

Unfortunately ,once i go off a figure/bust i rarely go back to them,hence the reason i get rid of them.Out of sight ,out of mind.

for my part i found that stopping my painting for the summer and ride my bike instead helps me to get back to the bench, I also use the summer to shop my next figures
by doing this i have my next fall / winter production at hands and ready to work on without waiting for shipping delays

for exemple : i have currently Thanatos from Kontraros, Mewt from Palacios, Sagara (3d print), and i wait for Izanagi (Kickstarter Axis Mundi) and my 4 Scale75 Zodiac signs (kickstarter too)

so i have a quite loaded winter in front of me while the Mojo is actually back
