My latest model (historical documentation of Pasquale Oliviero) a musket used in the American War of Independence in 1/24 - 75mm.
The musket bayonet that pierced with a drill bit 0.9mm, fits perfectly in the gun barrel. In the kit there are also rings for the shoulder belt and scabbard of bayonet.

Bayonets of this period were triangular. The scabbard should be triangular as well. The bayonet scabbard looks more like a flat type carried during WW1 or WW2 period example.

I think if you look closely at your photos, you will find that Garyjd is correct and that the bayonets of this era were triangular in section, so were the scabbards.(y)

If I may illustrate my point - my sketch shows the section if you looked along its length from the point end. As you rightly state, the top edge is flat, but the lower edge you see on photo is one side of a triangle. You also rightly state that there is a channel in the blade, but this is evident on both lower faces, as per the sketch.

I hope this clarifies what we are saying!(y)

It may look flat but it is in fact triangular. I've seen a style of bayonet carried by German troops of the period that had a flat blade.
