Dear All
This is my first time to sculpt, a small 1/16 head, I try hard to present a lightly smile face, any guidance will be very appreciated!

I have some questions, finger print, fingernail mark, small particle remained on surface, should be smoothed by paint thinner? about this size, Super Sculpey firm should be baked about 15 minutes ? what is the most common and easy way to "hold"(support the head when working), and the way to sculpt helmet, Symmetrical, round shape thing?

Next time when I try the whole 1/16 figure, should I use some structure for supporting ? and can I bake it in the middle of the processing, someone please guide me some reference in this forum or other useful link, it will helps me(a very beginner) a lot !

Very nice work for a beginner (y)

For holding I use a pin-vise or rod to support it, for baking Sculpey about 15 minutes at around 250 degrees Fahrenheit but be sure to let it cool in the oven. Taking it out before cooling can make cracks.

To smooth a fine brush will work well, to be cautious use on a spare piece of putty to experiment. ;)

Cheers! Let us know how it goes :)

That is indeed fine work, particularly if this is your first try! I'm impressed
You have very well defined all the major features.

I look forward to your sculpting of the rest of the figure.

Cheers,
Adrian

To gordy, thanks alot!!! for the tips of holding, baking time, and how to smooth, I am so exciting to do some experiment out there, I will keep going, before sculpting the whole figure, I will practice how to paint a 1/16 face, that's also very important for doing the whole thing, sculpting and painting a whole figure!!! still have lots of things to learn.:)

To Adrian, thanks for comments, indeed, first time always a hard time, it tooks me 2 whole days to figure out how to do it,
now I dare to try the whole figure, wish me have a good luck!!! :p

Cheers

Your a brave man. I tried sculpting and failed dismally. Eventually I will pluck up the courage to have another go. You have done a really great job for your first attempt. Well done.

Wow Chao, for a first sculpt that is excellent!

My first sculpts were really awful. Most people's sculpting improves dramatically over time, and therefore your sculpting looks set to become amazing!

All the best,
Jon.

Hello Jazz ,Thanks, I think I just have a good luck, because when I done the nose second time, really, I want to give up, but the third time I finally got some feeling and right tool to do it, so,"practice makes perfect" is a good way, I will keep practice, thanks again for your encouraging.

Jon, Thank you, I hope can improve my skill over time too, thank for your encouraging.

Best regards
Fabio

add some photos of practice of hand(actually a glove), finally follow the original plan, learn the "know how" of three most difficult part, head, shoes, hand(my own opinion), now after practice how to paint a face, I will start to plan my first figure.
