Hello again to all, this is my first attempt at painting to this scale and a bust at that, which I never really fancied doing. It is painted in Acrylics and photo taken with my phone.
I acquired the model with others in a trade and really did enjoy painting it. I may try some more busts in future.
    Thanks for looking. Michael.

That is a very nice looking bust Michael (I didn't think I'd be saying something like that when I woke up this morning ;)) (y)

I had a quick look at your blog and it's all great. Scale is obviously not an issue for you, it looks like you've mastered them all :)

Love it, Michael, warm congrats! Surelly, you have to come back with others busts.
Cheers,
Nicolae

Michael..........Great job on this bust.......me thinks you sold me on buying one..............Since this is a critique forum;maybe you or someone else can answer this question. Is the lower cheek transition line next to the nose a bit too abrupt?............Sorry just a thought...................Keep up the great work................Regards..........Wayne

I assume that the way the dye runs on his rising sun head scarf (I don't know the proper term for it) is deliberate? Either way it looks great. On the strength of this, I hope you do more busts (y)(y)(y).
Regards, Gary.

Hi Michael,
WOW if this your first bust.I really like and hope to see many more from you.

Cheers

Chris

Thanks to all for comments and constructive criticism.

As for doing more busts, I am on lookout for one as we speak.
The head band problem, we can put down to dodgy Japanese dye methods or sweaty forehead. I cannot see the run when looking at the bust in my hand anyhow and barely when magnified. I did put the model on here for critics to look at so thanks for pointing it out. :)

Properly well done Michael, the flesh tones are really good, I'm still on the learning curve for painting busts/skin tones etc, it makes me want to attempt a WW2 bust now, I'd buy the bust for the fact he has a Nambu, always liked that pistol.

Mick.

Well and truly done to perfection!!

I am about to tackle that bust (its on the desk behind me) and you have really set the bar high!!

Very nice!!

Kevin D.

Michael, this is a superb first effort. I agree with what everyone else has said about your skin tones, spot on. No criticism on your work but I do remember another Planeteer commenting on a review of this bust as to why a Kamikaze pilot would need a life jacket! John.
