Welcome to Planet Figure Aria and thank you for sharing your pics with us. Firstly,I should congratulate you for the excellent work you've done on this figure. It's quite an achievement to sculpt and paint your first figure from scratch. I hope to see more of your work in the future.

I will congratulate you for sculpting because it's something I cant do and I wish I could. You have chosen a really tough color to paint, that being red!! Red is a tough color to highlight and paint for that matter. The only color thats harder than red is white and I avoid figures that are heavy with white cause I hate painting white!! You have a good grasp on painting and the best suggestion I can offer is to keep painting. Your 5th figure will look a whole lot better than your first and you will continue to grow as long as you keep trying and asking for honest criticism to keep growing. To often you wont hear what you really want to hear. If you dont like what you see when your painting, you can do it over. I will strip a figure two or three times cause I dont like how its going and I am usually happy I did. Be your own worst critic and seek out honest advice. You will be happy you did. Keep painting and keep sculpting!!

Thank's...you right I think a same way about red and white colour..it's tough to create highlight in red colour because red colour will change to pink If I add white to the colour...so next time maybe I just build shadow in red colour...but I don't know maybe there is away to make highlight in red colour.......Still practice and learn to achive outstanding figure because I love this Hobby..(y)

The key to highlight red is red! Make your base color a dark red or scarlet and shadow with blue. Yes, I said blue! Blue and red make purple and blues are a great shadow. Now you can then highlight with straight red. I would suggest getting a color wheel and learn about using your primary colors and this will give you a good foundation for learning color theroy. I printed a color wheel straight off the net and it cost me a piece of paper and it's an invaluable tool. Any other ??? Feel free to hit me up anytime and keep painting!!!

Aria, welcome to Planet figure

Welcome to the membership, Aria. I think for your first figure you have done
a very credible job. And the critiques written above are sound advice. I
particularly was thinking of the words of Jason. Indeed, keep at it and your
fifth sculpted and painted figure will be that much better than your first. We
really do learn by doing. I am not a sculptor, unfortunately but I do admire
those of you who can create in three dimensions.

Have fun with it. This is a hobby and it should be fun, yet the things that are
worthwhile (and I see what your doing as worthwhile) are NOT easily
achieved.

Marc mentioned about the shoulders and I agree. Also, I think, at least from
looking at your pictures that the legs are not long enough in comparison to
the torso. Good luck on your next piece, and be sure to send us the pictures.
