Hi again,

I had an accident with the signifer seen here:http://www.planetfigure.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25879

Whilst painting the sword arm fell off (teaches me... always pin arms!) anyway I tried to glue it but made a mess of the paintwork so i have stripped it, pinned the arm and glued it. So while the arm is drying ready for priming I have started the Latorre Models "gladiator" that I picked up on ebay and stripped.

Here are the initial shots:

I have done my frrst bit of flesh painting. i started with a Base color of 50% Beige brown & 50% skin tone. then highlighted up from there. I am not really happy with it and I know the photo doesnt really show the detail. Any tips painting flesh would be appreciated.

Hi Mark,

I've just finsihed painting this figure, so the best advice I can give you is to watch the movie (particularly the opening scenes) and study the skin tones and colours carefully.

If you are using acrylics, start with a basic skintone colour to provide a solid base for your colours. From what I can see from your photo you need to add some contrast to your skin tones by adding some darker tones under the chin, the bottom lip, under the eyebrows and ears, and some highlights to the forehead, tops of the cheeks, upper lip and the middle of the chin. Once you've added the beard and the hair colour, you should then be able to see it all come together.

Good luck mate, and keep taking pics so we can follow your progress.

Cheers

That is a very nice kit.
Take your time, be patient, and practice.
Looking forward to seeing this figure finished.

Cheers
