HI ! I'm just going back from work and saw all the comments about the bust, thank you very much guys ! this is a 200mm Poste militaire bust by Julian Lamb (the son). It's all painting with classical oil, on a humbrol enamel undercoat. For the first time I try to make it really like a "photografy-portrait" so the ligth come from the left and not from the top ( zenithal) like usual. the first pics show the best point of view i think! here a differente view for better understanding (sorry i'm not very good in english and it's hard for me to explain)

Hey Daniel!

Beautifully painted bust! This is one of my favourite busts and I have to say that yours is one of the best ones I have seen painted.

It is kinda funny that you made an old time picture of yours as I did the same with my version, I guess this bust just lends it self to do so!

Hi Daniel,

stunning paint work! You can really bring out the magic the oil paints! Hope to see more stuff from you soon!

cheers,

Calvin

The Bust is by Poste Militaire, which is now out of business so anyone wanting one would need to get their skates on - I see Historex Agents are no longer listing it for one.

Daniel - I am speechless I have also painted this bust and thought I had done a good job until I saw yours !!!!! Wonderful painting. Thank you for sharing.

just love the photography as well as this painting of this bust, you have done a superb job. the B/W photo is the best, a vision of the Old West

Dave

Daniel,

I thought the first one you did was impressive! What always impresses me about your work is how you can get oils to "pop" and look so vivid.

Outstanding!..

Lou

This deserves three thumbs up (y) (y) (y)

Seeing several spectacular paint jobs on this bust I don't feel like starting mine anytime soon.

Hi evrybody, thank you all again for the comments !

Lou> I'm glad that you remenber the first one i did five years ago, and I'm agree with you, the first was more expressif, but less realistic than the last I think ... perhaps it's because i'm getting older and my vision of painting has change, in a bad or a better way, I don't know yet.
Calvin> I really really love your work !

Dario> I only got two french book about the american native, they're interresting but not really complet, we haven't got a big choice I Nice (France)
Stephen> Yes I remember ST Vincent, big show isn't it ?

Sorry if I forgot someone, but if you want to know something more about painting the bust, juste ask!

Daniel

Dani,
I would like to know what color mixes you used for the skin tones. They are superb and incredibly realistic.

Daniel - this is absolutely top class! The flesh tones are especially convincing. I know I should have taken up knitting :(

Isn't this is a Poste Militaire piece, sculpted by Julian Lamb? It is certainly the type of stuff Carl Reid does but I don't think it's his (I could be wrong - at my age the memory isn't that sharp )

Phil

Hello Daniel mon ami ;)

Very good to have you on the planet my friend...................

You're one of the top painters in the world IMHO  ............

Are you visiting Boston?

I've been invited to the Ingolstadt Show in Munich, Germany, from the 21st - 25th April, any chance of you being there?

Take Care,

Ray :)

Daniel,
Thanks for posting the paint mixes. Same thing always happens to me, I find a color that I like and it is discontinued a month later. Great job on the bust.
