Mark - I'm lucky, the wife attends shows with me (I don't drive) and brings her wallet with her:). At one show , after I had spent £100 at a bring and buy stall, within 20 minutes of arriving, she brought out the purse, gave me the £100 back so I could carry on spending and then said "there's a cash machine across the road"!

It's not really finding the money that's a problem and I'm not saying the work and standard of work available isn't worth the cost, but what is the reasoning behind the move to 75mm if not initially to reduce the costs? After all, 90mm figures aren't that much bigger. It just seems to me that 75mm prices are creeping up and surely there's less metal for your buck than in a 90mm. Isn't there? If not cost what is the advantage?

Take Alexandros Models. I have bought their 90mm Tomoe Gozen (currently £67.75 at Historex) I am a Japanese enthusiast and felt it well worth it, but I am reluctant to spend £95.55 (Historex price), for a 75mm Gwannggato the Great. I suppose that is not unreasonable for what you get, but as it's not really my main area of interest, nearly £100 for an impulse buy is hard to justify to myself. I would also like Pegaso's 90mm, mounted Murat - but £171.30!!!!
I have bought a lot of stuff second hand and both Mil-Art And Verlinden stuff but that is no help when you're drooling at the Pegaso stand at Euromilitaire:cry:. Not many people getting rid if their Gwannggatos recently:joyful: .

Six months to finish a mounted Adrian !! I aim for six weeks ; but my aim is not all that good as I have a Post Militaire Mounted Dragoon which requires the attachment of his carbine , he's only been waiting 30 years :)

Ron

30 years..... That would make £o,44 per month Ron...!
Now who said expensive?! :-D
That even leaves money for paint and brushes!

Cheers,
Adrian

You can also search for second hand
here on PF or on the bay, my last buy was an Ademola bust, painted, 200m for 8€, the 90mm Pose Militaire Saxon ( painted ) for 2.25€, a Barton 90mm Landsknech for 10€, a Superior Model Brunswick Dragoon for 10€, 4 Aquila 90mm by Somov for 19€ each,
make some search , and lucky are the people living in the US

You Bought a BUST :eek::facepalm: :D

David,
Some time back I came across an article about how to solve 'money issues'.
It mentioned many tips about saving money, but it was this tip that stood out and that I remember. It was this one (drums.....): Make more money!
Great, isn't it, that it is all very easy!?

Just joking.
I still think figures are not an expensive hobby, but at the same time wonder how much more we would buy if those figures were, say, 25% cheaper...? Maybe manufacturors can say something about that?

Cheers,
Adrian

75mm is becoming very popular with modellers , thats why the price is rising , but you will pay £66 for a 54 metal models mounted so the 75 mm is still a great price .

Ron

O.K. Ron I give up! Pegaso stand get ready for September, bring all the big stuff!:D .

Mark S.
David, have you considered 'recasts'...there are many availab.....:nailbiting: ouch, what the ......:blackeye::blackeye: all I said was:wtf:......... :hungover: .............:dead:.
Have you given up the will to live or something (LOL)?

Unfortunately that would probably necessitate going back to work:eek:;- 25% cheaper though, Mmmmm:p

What about the cost of the beer it takes it takes to relax and paint those small buggers.Speaking for myself of course. As somewhat of an "older"guy.Sure takes the edge off when painting serious detail. If that doesn't work; I break out the vinyl with a little Alex Harvey's Faith Healer" among others to get me goin again.......Wayne

A 54mm ((£15-£20) done well can take weeks, or approx 120 hours. Me and Cath went up the pub tonight with £60 and with friends and rounds of 2 couples, came back with £4. Went up at 8 came back at half 12. Nearly £120 spent, ok, £100 as I got the last ( between couples). Now tell me modelling is expensive :) it was £16-£18 a round, plus nibbles :)
And YES, every round I think of that unique figure I want :), Cath and our friends didn't agree lol

That's gotta rock your bench.

Dr feelgood and Ian Drury and the Blockheads to that playlist
