Whenever I see a new N-S Prod piece it always makes me think that this is a producer of dreams company and not of figurines.I love their subjects, their sculpts and casting level and above all the fact that they provide an entire vignette with each and every box.In their works the artistic element blends with the hobby in a harmonious, sincere and authentic way. These guys have created an entire school of miniaturistry of their own and what a beautiful school it is indeed!!!!!

Oda.

Sorry to be a party pooper. The sculpting etc. of this is great, but the engineering of the grindstone is very wrong. The illustrations all show a large flywheel with a small grindstone and a pedal which is fixed at one end to rotate the centre of the flywheel. This pedal is going to be up at his chest level when he tries to rotate it!

It's a treadle not a pedal, it sways forward and back as in the old table mounted sewing machines.

I was writing the same words...as I 've seen your post!!! and maybe the anatomy of the "remouleur" is not so good!

Sry - this is the right template...:

And it's all correct.

Cheers

A sharp-eyed Forumbruder over at the Figure-Mad Forum noticed the same thing, and I must agree. Regardless of whether it's a treadle, which some illustrations show, this model has a piece of wire bent in the shape of an S with right-angle bends instead of curves. As such, it needs to be modified, whether to represent a treadle or a pedal. As it is now, it's a hand crank, like folks used to have to use to turn over an engine.

It doesn't detract from how cool the kit is, but it's something to be aware of. It's in the same category as someone putting a moustache on a Hessian infantry officer from the Revolutionary War. Few will even be aware of it.

Prost!

On a related note, what's the best way to get ns-prod pieces to the uk? I've paid through he nose for postage a couple of times for stuff that's only stocked on the continent, is there a way to avoid it?

I just saw the post that was opened for the remoulleur (which is being painted) and it is true that the pedal poses problem in view of your explanations.
It's a shame that I did not understand it before doing the sculpture.
Thank you for your remarks.

Wonderful series - inspired I guess by Ludwig Deutsch - and this one is a super addition. I like it a lot and it'd be easy enough to sort out the treadle thing. I am so tempted .....
