Ok it's time to post up my first attempt at a bust. This is a Verlinden and is a 200mm.
I chose a bust as I wanted to get something with little or no assembly and little clean up but to my dismay there were a couple of large bits of flash on this and it's damm hard to remove resin one handed and so the surface is not as good as I would like
I apologize now for the photo quality as I have only my phone and workbench lighting which is a little bright for good definition.

There was a big bit on the chin but I had removed it before I remembered to photo it.
I am using Vallejo paints.

The base of Flesh base with a touch of Brown sand.

Then I put the eyes in.Pale sand base and I went with blue as a good first try at it.Pale blue highlights and a white catchlight were added.

From this point on I went through the highlighting and shadow process with thin coats.

Hi Kurt,
That's a great effort and like the three previous comments , nothing but positives. I think you mentioned watching the last cavalry? Dave Youngquist does a really good tutorial on doing the eyes and face as well as the blends of colours it helped me and you can watch it many times over if need be, well done.
Regards
Chris.

Thank you very much everyone, sounds like I'm on the right track.
I looked at many SBS on U Tube and I did find that Last Cav was clear to understand for me but I know there are lots of brilliant painters with different styles out there.
The eyes I'm about 90% happy with but will leave them as they are as I want to use each build as a improvement guide.
Please any faults or tips to improve are always welcome.

Kurt.

Ok I have not done a great deal to this apart from trying to replicate the leopard pattern on his lid and I have made a right mess of it.
It looks far to cartoonish.

After two attempts I stripped the paint off and re-base coated and will try again. After following some advice given by helpful members here it should be better.
I think I picked a stiff pattern to try first up.
