I have a figure i belive it is 75mm or larger but i need help with the colors i will be using acrylics for this figure i maybe using both reaper and vallejo colors so if anyone knows which colors please tell me?

Depends on the figure. The term Old Guard referred to several units within Napoleon's Guard. Can you post some pics of the figure? This could be very helpful with pointing you in the right direction.

If you are looking for a general 'French blue' for the tunic and a red for the facings, these are the basic mixes I have used for this:

Blue
Base- Prussian blue 965 + Black 950
HL- Base + 965 + White 951
Shade- Base + Black

Red
Base- Carmine 908
HL- Carmine 908 + Matt yellow 953 + Sunny Skin Tone 845
Shade- Carmine 908 + Red 926

I don't have exact ratios when mixing, just eyeball to the shade I need. For colours I will use alot for a fig or if there is multiple figs in a diorama, I batch mix the base and store it in 1 oz jars with a lid for consistancy.
I mostly do Napoleonics and document my mixes, if your ever looking for something specific, I may have something that will work for you. Just PM me if you want some possible ideas.

Hope this helps

If it helps. Private soldier, sergeant and officer Guards Grenadier of 1805-1807

Just a little thing !
Do not forget some realities, the coloring agents used for the uniforms were natural (coming from plants or minerals), the soldier never wash its uniform, but for the old Guard, they always fight (in the battles) with their "Grand Uniforme", ceremonial uniform, kept in the backpack during walking.
Also, blue of the uniform of the old Guard was darkened, the troops of the artillery of the navy having been confused with the regiments of the old guard.

We keep missing each other so I'll just post the pics here:

Grenadier Plate I.jpgGrenadier Plate II.jpgGrenadier Plate III.jpgRank Insignia.gifRousselot- Chasseur a Pied I.jpgRousselot- Chasseur a Pied IV.jpgRousselot- Chasseurs a Pied II.jpgRousselot- Chasseurs a Pied III.jpgRousselot- Grenadiers I.jpgRousselot- Grenadiers II.jpgRousselot- Grenadiers III.jpgRousselot- Grenadiers IV.jpgRousselot- Grenadiers V.jpgUniforms of the Napoleonic Wars.jpgUniforms of the Napoleonic Wars II.jpg

The first few pics were gleened off the web so I don't know their source. The latter pages are photograghed (I don't have a scanner) from the Rousselot book "Napoleon's Army 1790-1815" and the last two from "Uniforms of the Napoleonic Wars" by Digby Smith. If you drag the pics onto your computer and zoom a bit you can read the text.

Hope it helps.
