This question is for all you students of Napoleonic history. You'd think with access to the internet, I'd find this answer myself but I seemed to be looking in all the wrong places. (What, no historical info at francinesfarmfriends.com? ) Ahem, anyway...Which, if any, European countries were allies of Napoleon? I was looking through my vast collection of unpainted figures & found a few that would make interesting little 2-3 figure dioramas. I suppose I could always call it 'Friendly Fire' when finished but I'd rather be a bit more historically accurate. Thanks in advance.

Hi Mike
In answer to your question it must be bourne in mind that the map of
Europe today, differs completely from the days of Napoleon.

So I would say instead of actual countries as allies more a question of
states, such as Dalmatia, Bavaria, Westphalia, Croatia etc.

This would then put the inhabitants of these states in French service
For example Polish/Dutch lancers German/Italian light infantry
as well as Swiss and even Lithuanians.

I hope this is of some help

Frank,

Thank you, that's a big help. I'll have to rethink my diorama possibilities. Among the figures I have are Polish/Dutch lancers. Those guys were the biggest question marks for me but if all else fails, French vs. Scottish highlanders are always a safe bet. Thanks again.
