I've seen many time's on workshops a tool that i want to have. Why, well it is because it hold your figure tied, and you can paint without touching the figure.
It's like a clamp with about 24 hole's at the top. Into the hole's you can put pin's in it. This pins now hold your figure. Because the top of the clamp is made out of two side,s you can screw (yes there is a screw between the two side's) the pin's very thigt to your figure.
Now you have your figure thigt to the clamp, and you can paint it without touching it.
Here in the Netherlands nobody can deliver it. I've seen it once on the internetshop's but can't remember where.
Can somebody help me. I need it, how many euro's it may cost. :

Looks interesting but I have shied away from something like this because I am afraid that it will damage the resin/metal or scratch previously painted parts. Pin the figure or part and then use the vise?

I used to use a home made vise but found that when I paint that I shift the position of the figure so frequently that a vise just didn't make sense.

Keith, don't know if it's the same thing but it sounds like it. I use the clamp but without the pins. Instead, since I always drill and place a long pin in both of the figures legs that protrude about 1-2", I clamp onto those pins. The clamp is great because if you need to get real close or put the figure in a crockpot you can unscrew the handle.

Lou-

I figure that was it.

Are there any US distributers?

BTW, never used a crock pot but do use drying box with a 60 W bulb.

Thx. Guys for the quick respons, and the usefull tips.
I get it know within a few days from a internetshop into the UK. With postcost it is € 16,- what is about $ 18,- or 11 pound's.

Thanks. Marc.

Thanks for the info. I guess I better put it on the "list" along with a bench top vise. :)

I strongly suggest that all serious modelers pick up this Precision Scale Modeling Catalog. It has every conceivable gizmo, doodad, thigamjig you could possibly want for general modeling including all of these tools mentioned here. The price of the cataolog is refunded with the first order.

For scratchbuilding virtually anything, it is absolutely indispensible.

From where Bob?

When I get home I'll post the name of an online jewelry tool catalog. To Luis' point, every conceivable tool is in there. If they weren't so damned expensive I'd also have a jeweler's workbench. Perfect for what we do.
