Hey Planeteers,
here's my second figure, I finished two days ago.
The Original:
In 1806, Napoleon tried to extend his influence in eastern Europe. After beating Prussia, Russia was the last great military stand against the French. So France continued the war in 1807 and Napoleon searched the decision on Prussian territory. On the evening of the 07th February at Prussian Eylau, Russian and French troops were taken in some fights which developed into a large battle. After having a break in the very cold night, the French attacked at the next morning under hard circumstances. Heavy snowfalls led the troops to the wrong point of the Russian– directly in front of 70 canons! 2 Divisions were almost annihilated. Napoleon was forced to handle, so he sent a counterattack of cavalry, consisting of 10.900 horses – one of the largest cavalry charges ever. The soldiers drove through the Russian centre two times and relieved their comrades successfully. But they had heavy losses – like the Russians who had to reorganize their centre. A following attack of French was rejected by incoming Prussian troops. The arrival of marshal Ney’s soldiers prevented a victory. The Russians retreated while the French weren’t able to follow.
My figure presents a French Officer of the 12th Cuirassier Regiment. His horse was hit at the cavalry charge so he is forced continue fighting on foot.

The Modell:The figure is the famous one made by Andrea. There weren’t any problems with it so I could easily begin to paint. My used colors were Vallejo for the uniform, skin and base as well as oils for the metals. The socket is made by poplar. The vignette is the Andrea base painted and covered with snow made with texture gel from Winsor & Newton and a mix of kerosene dust, water and glue. Blood is made by red color and glue. The blood should represent the heavy losses at the battle and leads to the name „Neige Sanglante – Bloody Snow“.
I hope you enjoy my little scenery. Feel free to write any critic or comments.
Regards Philip
