Beautiful work on this Sergey, but should the horse be that small? To my eyes it almost looks like a larger-scale figure on a smaller-scale horse.

Hi Einion!

The horse is gorgeous! Very nicely done. To answer your question the horses of the Russian steppes were (and still are) very small and stocky - closer to ponies, so the size in relation to the rider, is accurate.

If I got really, really, really picky about this one I'd say that the horse looks a bit too much like a Thoroughbred racehorse the way he is built rather than the Russian mounts of the time period. So I think that's what's throwing off the sense of scale. Especially because the horse is is the classic "Cigar" or "Secretariat" pose. He just looks like the huge racehorse flying down the homestretch, so the size of the rider in comparison is a bit of a jolt.

But as for bio-mechanics and general horsie aesthetics - it's absolutely wonderful!

Very nice figure and the points about the horse are right on the money. I wish someone would do a heavy bodied small horse. I have a lot of projects that I could use one for. Maybe I need to commission one for Kings Road.
