I think it's a fine model but I am sorry to say that at least in this painted version it does not make me think of Rommel. Sorry.

Colin

That pose looks very odd to me. It appears like a badly posed shop manikin.

Have to agree. The paint job is excellent, but when I saw the figure at Euro a couple of weeks back, I wasn't convinced by the pose.

Very good sculpted figure - in the Uniform of the DAK ("Deutsches Afrika Korps").

And now the Boxart: Completely wrong - even the scarf!

And now if someone says: "This should be Rommel in France in 1944 "...: The appearance of the "Fieldgreen" uniform was completely different and had a closed collar.

Pity! Rommel is one of the most photographically documented people of the war - and I seriously wonder why the Painter was so sloppy.

Sorry, with such a "boxart" you can "destroy " the best sculpted figure...

Cheers

with all the respect, the painted uniform is correct.
He has painted the uniform coming modeling in figure.
General of the armies (generaloberst), which is Rommel which led to their arrival in Africa.
the sculpture shows the Africa Korps uniform.
The painter has done correctly

You can disagree more or less of tone used to paint the uniform.
Warrior's General of the Afrika Korps in olive green
The sculptor has not modeled the uniform of the Africa Korps
The figure that has modeled Paul, it carries three star on the shoulders of generaloberst, has not made the graduation of field marshal Rommel figure
year 1941 not the year 1943

Sculpture, and the model itself is very good show similarities with Romel, but ..... this is what I see in the picture ... I do not like it, sorry

Your first three template-pictures show Rommel in ordinary generals-uniform with the correct clodsed Button.

But: This is not sculpted!

The DAK uniform had an open button like it is sculpted. And this Uniform was not green!

But - I understand.

You said, The figure should show the uniform, Rommel wore in July 1941 when he came to Africa.

But then please explain to me why the figure carries an award (Swords to the Knight's Cross) that he got much later, on 20. January 1942 ...

In Your tenmplate pics the swords are not to be seen...!

(BTW: His oak leaves and swords were silver, not goldish - the only ones in gold were given to the pilot Hanns-Ulrich Rudel).

I still maintain that since the research homework was not done properly.

Cheers

I've put the first three photos to see the pants
It is the pants that the sculptor, has modeled if he modeled that pair of pants can not carry DAK jacket.
I believe that the sculptor wanted to model a Rommel figure without conform to a specific period
As for the award has reason: Knight's cross of the cross of iron with leaves of oak, swords and diamond
Colonel of the Luftwaffe Ulrich Rudel earned gold single
I said him that it has to be uniform in 1941 because the figure has shoulders graduation from General non-marshal, Rommel was promoted in June 1942.
I think that the only sculptor wanted to make a representation of Rommel if more, that's why Fox, called I think

Hello Martin!

The explanation of Pedro Molina and Rommel paint is absolutely correct (y)

The following the granting of the swords in his cross of Knight in June 1942 also wore in his green uniform in Africa.Las sometimes swords are silver, and we regret that the reflection of his shirt sand appear decorated in gold ;) .

We would be happy to see his paintings in this piece since you are an excellent connoisseur of the biography of Rommel...

Regards Martin Thank you for your interest in our work

HI all.
I just got this excellent figure. I think is very pretty, well proportioned... perhaps some minor changes can be made.
Regarding the painting I must say that you can make your own version because many possibilities can be achieved with some minor changes. You can make minor great coat changes for getting another coat, cutting some award parts and son on.
Attached you can find some of my painting pics. I have this beauty in progress ...

Rafael - thankyou for the pictures. I think yours looks a lot more like Rommel than the box art (which is evry well executed in general) so it must be a style thing. Apapreciate the post.

Colin

Correct me if I'm wrong - Rommel blue eyes????
portrait-of-Field-Marshal-Erwin-Rommel.jpg

In my eyes the sculptor has captured an impressive likeness of Rommel. The pose does look a somewhat artificial (Rommel was a stout person and obviously adopted much more straight poses) and therefore a bit less would possibly have been much more.... Still a very nice sculpt with lots of potential.
Cheers, Martin
